Good for new gym goers!
PureGym is affordable, generally reliable, and it's cool that they open 24/7. Their classes which are not a huge fan of, but I think if you're looking to get into health and fitness, the classes are a useful point at which to start.
Classes are friendly for newcomers so you don't have to worry about not having an appropriate skill level or fitness. They truly carer to a wide range of people. I deducted a star, however, because it's not exactly the cleanest at my local gym... but that's somewhat unavoidable; it has more to do with gym etiquette/the people rather than the gym itself.
For what you are paying, you get a good service overall!

Paid day pass - gym under refurb
Paid for a day pass 12-06-25 and the entire gym was under refurb. Smelt strongly of paint, lots of workmen in and out, very distracting and was not made clear at time of day-pass purchase. I would've went elsewhere if made aware. Not good enough.

Appalling customer service
This is a review specifically for the service received from PureGym.
I used to go to the PureGym in Maypole, the gym is actually ok and so are the courses (when the teacher shows up).
But you have to wish to never need to talk to someone because that would be basically impossible.
I’ve joined this gym in Jan and when I joined there was nowhere any information/instructions about parking early in the morning when Sainsbury’s is still closed.
Only on the 12th February I’ve got an email from PureGym saying that to get 2 hrs free car parking I should register the car inside the gym. No mention about it before then. Not via email, not in the gym.
Clearly as soon as I was aware I started registering my car.
But unfortunately I’ve got a total of 8 parking tickets for all the times I visited the gym before the day I was made aware.
I raised appeal with the parking company but I’ve also tried to contact the gym, because like every other business, they should have a way to contact the parking company themselves and get the parking ticket cancelled in some circumstances.
I’ve contacted the customer service to be bounced back 3 times, I’ve contacted the manager directly and no answer, I raised an official complaint and got what seemed an automatic reply saying basically that there was no wrongdoing (according to whom?) they could see and the complaint was therefore dismissed.
It’s honestly a shame, because due to a very poor customer service the gym has lost 2 memberships and gained a terrible review, and all in favour of the parking company making a tons of money.
It doesn’t seem too smart to me?

The car park is operated by a third party company in which we do not have any affiliation with. Therefore, we are unfortunately unable to cancel such tickets.
Information regarding parking is available on the home page of any PureGym which offers parking. The correct parking procedures must be followed, to avoid a parking ticket.
We would always advise that you appeal the fine and explain the circumstances alongside your attendance log which can be provided as proof to show you were in the gym.
If your appeal is rejected, we would suggest submitting a case with POPLA. POPLA are an independent appeals process which works with the Ombudsman Service. They investigate whether this fine was issued correctly in accordance with the terms and condition of the car park; whilst reviewing evidence provided in the appeal.
On the rejection notice, there should be a 10-digit verification code, and you will then be able to submit an appeal with POPLA via their website: http://www.popla.co.uk/poplaappealprocess.
Although we cannot guarantee they will cancel the fine, we do hope for a positive outcome. Thanks, PureGym.
It was OK but could not find a single…
It was OK but could not find a single member of staff to help me. I needed a padlock for the locker. There was a note to say you could buy from the vending machine but nothing found. So I am not that impressed to be honest. Equipment is okay but weights were missing and all over the place. It needs managing better in my opinion.

You can request an update on when Padlocks will be restocked via contacting the club direct via email.
It is in the gym rules that members should return their own weights or risk suspension, but at peak times especially it can be hard to police this.
However, staff on site do everything they can while we also have CCTV monitoring the free weights and are looking for new ways to combat this. Thanks, PureGym

Decent gym
Decent gym, great range of machines.
Two of the ladies toilet cubicles had no paper and had rubbish and discarded paper on the floor in a bit of a mess but rest of gym looked very clean.
Didn't have to wait for any of the machines. Good atmosphere.

CHECK THE PARKING SITUATION
PureGym has 2 hours free parking on top of the 2 hours Sainsburys allow BUT you must enter your information in the gym to claim it. I only learned this after receiving PARKING FINES. Gutted no one told me, staffing is remote. Gym is good overall, not 100% as there are some machines that need maintenance and the showers are mouldy. The app tells you when its busy and I've experienced a positive vibe in there and not felt uncomfortable even though I'm old and out of shape.

PureGym prides itself on being able to offer state of the art fitness facilities to our members in a safe and welcoming environment. We developed industry-leading cleaning and hygiene protocols, including the introduction of cleaning stations, to help keep our members and employees safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, with the reduced risk and in line with the Government’s ending of legal restrictions, we have decided to remove self-cleaning stations in our gyms, which will also support our sustainability objectives by reducing our paper towel waste.
We’re proud to say that many of the protocols implemented during lockdown, such as frequent and regular
cleaning, and improvements to our air ventilation systems, will continue to be a core part of our TrainSafe Commitment.
