This is a weird, dirty gym.(Lincoln, St Marks) I used to come with my girlfriend but now I go alone. I only go because of the location and the price. I’m glad someone pointed out the male staff in female changing room. My girlfriend told me that a male cleaner entered the changing rooms with no warning too. He didn’t have a uniform but was dragging a hoover and holding cleaning supplies. He was looking at the women changing. This is why she left. There appears to be no female staff at all in the place. It seems like a strange gym overall. I go in and out as quickly as possible. Showers and toilet area (specifically sink) are nearly always dirty too. I’ll be leaving the gym soon.
I’m writing this so other people don’t go through what I did.
In November 2025, I received 4 parking tickets worth £40 each while using PureGym St. Mark’s, Lincoln, despite the fact that I am 100% certain I entered my correct registration number into the gym system on every visit fr the 2 hours members parking.
PS the tickets came laters came days after my trips to the gym
When the parking company (Excel Parking) claimed they couldn’t find my registration number, I appealed. They rejected my appeal immediately and told me I was only allowed to appeal once. Even after sending multiple emails explaining the situation, they refused to review it again.
I also called them, and the representative I spoke to was rude and dismissive, and told me there was nothing they could do and they would end the call.
PureGym didn’t help either. They told me they had no record of my vehicle registration for that period, even though they could confirm that I was at the gym on those dates.
In the end, I had to pay £160 in parking charges in just one month, even though I followed the instructions and entered my registration number correctly.
My advice:
Go to different gym , maybe pure gym at Carlton center if it’s close to you. Do not use Excel parking, neither the gym nor the parking company will support you
My daughter decided to use this gym (St Marks) as a student. She has been using it almost daily. Yesterday I received four of the first of what I assume are several parking fines (£80 each). The gym advertises (quite significantly) free parking if you use the tablet, which she does.
The gym has no phone number to contact someone to support. I emailed them and they send an unhelpful automated reply which has a section about parking fines (implying this is a common problem). They give the weakest advice to appeal and the usual platitudes of "We do hope the fine gets cancelled." Not good enough. It there is an agreement with St Marks and Puregym, that is for Puregym to sort.
A deeper look on their website in the small print says they are not responsible for car parking fines. In my view, if you tell someone that they have free parking and you fail to come through with that, you are pretty responsible. Seeking legal advice.

Shite. Won't let me access the gym without booking an appointment. Nobody replies to emails. Pissing money into the wind at this point.

A bloke in a manager’s uniform, along with another male staff member, just walked straight into the women’s changing room while girls were getting changed — no warning whatsoever.
Only after they were already inside, making everyone feel really uncomfortable, did they ask if it was “okay” for them to be there. Even though it was obvious we weren’t comfortable, they still hung about and carried on checking the room.
Honestly, wouldn’t recommend this gym to anyone. I felt completely uncomfortable and I’m cancelling my membership straight away.

The machines are easy to use. Although the pricing is ridiculous especially the 15 quid joining fee

I recently experienced some safety concerns with the benches at my gym. Despite being securely engaged, the bench slipped and dropped me—not once, but twice. It’s a miracle no one was hurt. The benches are old and unstable, constantly shaking and moving during workouts, which is really dangerous. I hope the gym addresses this issue soon to ensure the safety of all members.

Absolutely awful over crowded no matter what time u go and let's be honest who want to wait until 2 am to go. Too many people just sitting on phones at equipment rather than working out waste of money end up not going more than going cuz it's a joke.

Gym is OK. However parking can be a problem. You only get 2 hours of free parking, so it means you can only workout for 1:45 hours to avoid problems. You can also very easily get a parking fine since the touchscreen doesn't work very well. If you appeal you have 0% chance with the parking company even if you show your proof of attendance from pure gym. So I had to start going to another gym.
