My worst experience ever

This is the worst insurance company I have ever decided to give my money to. I took a black box policy with them of 6000 miles (nothing) which costed me 2400 pounds. Straight out the gate the moment my black box was fitted the installer was extremely rude and cussed me out, once signed up for the insurance I received no package of my documents or any guidance to upload required documentation or anything like that, they simply took my money then left me in the dark. They then began instantly threatening me with policy cancellations for not uploading documents which soon led to false speeding readings on my box. Roses well known in my town as 30’s with clear signs and displays are marked as 20 on the black box, giving me non stop speeding warnings driving my score ever low. This took me to the point where I felt I became a more dangerous driver by the amount I looked at my speedometer just to ensure my needle wasn’t just covering the speed limit. After my first month I wanted a refund and told them all the horrible experience I had and how poorly I had been treated, they completely blanked any feedback I gave and just cancelled it then and there, and told me my processed refund after only using 250 miles and one month of my insurance (2400 pounds) was £86.82. They’re so happy to take your money and try their absolute best to keep you spending more money, for a black box insurance on a young driver when they need genuine support. A firm like this should be illegal. Never go near them.

Amazing insurance

Amazing insurance, after black box was fitted everything been fine. Very lenient in speeding and scores, no curfew hours however there is a usage score but that doesn’t affect the overall score too much anyways. You can end up getting 25% discount at the end of the year which is amazing too. The insurance was the cheapest available for a first car, being only £900 for a 1.5 L and only £170 for 1000 top up miles , they even have a predictor in app which calculates and average is determined if/ when you need more miles. I’ve seen a lot of complaints about this company but genuinely can’t fault it.

Really helpful customer service…

Really helpful customer service (Ashley) who after receiving my email with concerns regarding daughters score, she rang me and ran through everything and was extremely helpful. If you're in doubt about your score, ring or email and they will go through it all with you, even down to the smallest detail, ie breaking too harsh or going over the limit by 1 or 2 miles an hour. Very impressed. So don't be put off by the reviews. We are happy with the insurance and customer service so far.

AVOID. Terrible company

AVOID AVOID AVOID Absolutely shocking company, an absolute joke. Had many issues starting from day one, i’ve had numerous issues, every one of them being at the fault of the company! every time i ring up they blame the issue on technical problems. Today topped my experience! Rang up to change my address and was greeted by unprofessional swearing and arguing in the call centre then for them to hang up on me, clearly they didn’t know i was there, i thought changing address would be an easy do! clearly not as the systems are having technical issues yet again! i’m expecting a call back on friday! i doubt i will get that. Contemplating cancelling my insurance. AVOID AVOID AVOID

Bought this insurance

Bought this insurance, all was well. I called up stating I have not received a call about fitting my box they apologised and said they will note that I have called. I was like okay perfect, 5 days go by STILL no call. Bear in mind I use my car to get to work and from work. I called the box fitting company myself. They said they have not even received the job to fit my box. I was like smart wheels is going to cancel my box on Saturday if I don’t get it fitted, they were like call them and ask. Bear in mind I work from early hours of morning all the way to 5pm (6am to 5pm) so they are closed when I am finished. Today is the day they are gonna. Cancel, tried calling the insurance and it goes straight to the box company and they are closed on weekends even though the website states otherwise. I would highly recommend not going with smart wheels they are a pain in the backside. Do not waste your money

If I could leave zero stars

If I could leave zero stars, I would. Awful experience and only 11 days since having the telematics box fitted.
Box fitted on my son’s car 11 days ago and since day one there’s been nothing but discrepancies and grief. On the day of fitting, car was registered driving 50 in a 30 on a stretch of road it would be impossible to do. Questioned it amongst ourselves, but gave the box the benefit of the doubt and told son to slow down. Then two days ago came the ‘we’re cancelling your insurance’ email as they stated he’d driven at an excessive speed, once again an almost impossible task in the circumstances surrounding it. After examining the data on the app, there have been times when the data is either inaccurate (travelling 11.5 miles and arriving at his destination at the same time he started his journey) or completely omitting data for almost two days. After contacting More Than to highlight the issues he’s having, they really aren’t interested. They’re quite happy to continue to cancel the insurance even when there are clearly issues with the black box. They’ll investigate the speeding to check if it’s correct, but will ignore the fact there have been faults since day one and won’t accept that there could be issues with the data they have received-even though they said there must’ve been a fault when the 11.5 miles didn’t register a time, but they’re not prepared to send someone to physically check the box. The box has since started to transmit data again, but once again it’s inaccurate and all previous questionable information has now been removed from the app. The time stamps it shows when the car is being driven are completely wrong and it’s stopped sending data yet again. We’re now having to document and photograph everything as evidence. I have contacted More Than twice to complain about the box, a third conversation followed a supervisor contacting me once he knew I was unhappy with the service so far. He still didn’t listen to my concerns, but did say he’d escalate my complaint to his superior (as high as a complaint can go…apparently) and someone else would call me back…they haven’t yet.
I forgot to mention the threat of cancellation before having the box fitted as it wasn’t done in the 10 days of taking out the insurance even though the fault was theirs because there were no fitters in our area during that time so it had to be booked for a few weeks later. Something I’d contacted More Than about as soon as it was an issue so they knew about it from the start.

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS.

After logging an official complaint, I was informed that I would hear back from Smartwheels by 9/11/22 with the outcome of their decisions…I haven’t. No surprise really, shocking service from the start.

Absolute joke

Absolute joke. Handed in the needed documents and still received messages saying how my insurance would be cancelled. Thankfully I phoned and they said there was a invalid document which I wouldn’t of know if I hadn’t phoned. The woman on the phone said she had validated them all and there was nothing to worry about. Only for me to ring up and few hours later to take a named drivers off and was told documents were invalid. So I spent another 30 minutes on the phone sorting it out. Finally I received a confirmation email and message saying nothing to worry about only to wake up the next day and receive a message saying I have one day to avoid my policy being cancelled. So I then have to ring up again even though everything I needed to do was done to ask them myself to not cancel my policy because I’ve done everything I needed too and I was still receiving messages and emails and they said it was a glitch in the system. So if you have chose this insurance company make sure you phone multiple times to confirm that everything is okay otherwise you will lose your money. The only good thing I can say about them is the people on the phone were helpful except from the first one because she gave me a false sense of completion with my documents and if I hadn’t phoned again and listened to her I would of lost my money.

My son just passed test and insured his car with these monkeys . It’s a 1.2 style as standard it comes with chequered stickers black alloy wheels .went to have black box fitted and told we can’t fit due to having alloy wheels and sticker . All standard from factory

Absolutely shocking company

Absolutely shocking company, cancelling a insurance due to documentation loading error, full amount lost.
Why accept a customer under the age of 18 for DD and take £600 deposit only to cancel a week later if you already knew this wasn’t an option given DOB was given.
New fee paid… all was well until one warning for speed error then an email to cancel insurance completely!
Do they think people are made of money? absolutely disgusting to rob young people of their money trying to start out in life.
You are the worst company we have ever come across!

Don’t do it

Please don’t take this insurance out they are absolutely ridiculous if you can afford to pay extra to get insurance without a black box please do it they will make your driving life a misery they are the biggest conning insurance company on the planet I wish I would of read the reviews before I bought mine

Don’t consider this company!

Don’t consider this company for insurance unless you absolutely have to! I thought it we be good as I can get money back for good driving and I consider myself to be a safe driver who obeys the laws of the road. My main problem with this insurance provider is the lack of accuracy of the black box. Meaning it recorded inaccurate speeds and locations, so on multiple occasions I have been sent email speed warning that is so incorrect and in tern, have to spend hours on the phone trying to prove their recordings to be wrong using dash cam videos, Google street view images and so on. I have driven as perfectly as possible but unfortunately my working hours lead to my driving score getting lowered considerably and unfairly meaning £0 saving. Finally their prices are pretty bad. I am changing insurance companies after a year with more than. The cheapest comparison site quote without a black box was over £500 cheaper than more than renewal quote for the second year!!!

Avoid this company!
They are shockingly bad. Step daughter insured her first car through smart wheels and paid upfront for the year (over £1200). She had to wait 10 days for a technician to come out to fit the black box only for him to refuse as he said the windows were slightly tinted and the wheels had been sprayed! Things we weren’t aware of at time of purchase. We called their customer services who said that we would have to pay an additional £1000 ish for these so called modifications, plus a new black box fitting appointment and associated charges. We told them that we will remove the tint and wheel paint but they said that they still wouldn’t insure as a standard vehicle as they had now classed it as modified!
We cancelled the insurance but have still been charged over £300 for the privilege of 10 days insurance! Also, the refund will take 10 days!! So now step daughter is left out of pocket and unable to take out new insurance for nearly 2 weeks. Appalling treatment. I can’t believe they are allowed to get away with this. I’ve read on forums that the technicians are paid a kick- back for every box they refuse to fit, it looks like this has been the case with us.

Worst young driver insurance company going, shocking!! Do not go with smart wheels!!

I am absolutely disgusted in this company, sold my first car wanted to change to my new car stay on the same policy. A friendly gentleman that answer the phone the day before I got my new car said they would half the price of whatever the excess was if my car was dearer to insure because I was already 6 months through my policy. Turns out they chat out their backside, charged me £492 to change my vehicle you'd think I'd just bought a car with 350bhp. Not only that, they are deducting miles from my blackbox because of the new owner driving it for miles, and the new owner knocked my black box score down to 2.4 from 9.8. I will not be renewing my policy with these rip offs once it is up in October. I will be changing insurance companies!!! DO NOT GO TO SMART WHEELS, even if you have to pay a bit extra towards a different company absolutely do it, because these are shocking. If I could rate 0 stars I would

avoid like plague

The worst insurance company out there.
I’d get told by the app I was speeding when I wasn’t, on roads where I’d go below the limit and it thought I’d been speeding. This was because the box was using a speed limit from about 20 years ago.
It penalised me for driving early in the morning (I started work at 4/5am) and they KNEW this, but I still got a bad score for that.
Prices completely uncompetitive too.
I bought a new car and switched to Admiral who quoted me half the MoreThan price (which was mid thousands) and with no black box.
Put it like this - if my cheapest quote was MoreThan and the next cheapest was double that, I’d pay double.

Terrible experience from start to finish.

Extortionate prices, made me pay to fit a black box for the final two weeks of my policy and then told me if I was to have a second year with them I was to pay another £170 for another blackbox. Charged hundreds for an extra 250 miles!

WRONGLY put me as blame for a crash I had in January and has me down on the CUE database as being at FAULT! This resulted in my new insurance company VOIDING my insurance. I had no knowledge of being logged as at fault, this accident was over 11 months ago and they didn't even think to contact me to confirm accident details! Even the member of staff that worked there was shocked at the situation.

My car was in the garage and I told them this, the owner of the garage had to test the parts as I had a new clutch, he went SLIGHTLY over the speed limit and they sent me a red notice threatening to cancel my insurance. The garage owner had there own insurance to drive my vehicle and I told them this, apparently the rules don't apply to them and they would NOT give back my well deserved cash back.

This is only a handful of the problems I have had with this company!

DO NOT USE, AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

By far the worst insurance out there, may seem like the cheapest option, but it is cheap for a reason! No one that works there has a clue.

RIP off and prey on the young vulnerable

Took the insurance out for our son , half way through insurance we had a text asking for us to top his miles up , never heard of this before so I called them .operator was very polite but informed me we would need to pay an extra £1500 ontop of initial insurance premium which was in the thousands to start with . Our son has good driving score and this company is out to rip people off , we were informed if we dont top up miles they still want the rest of the initial premium and will be charge a cancellation fee aswel .this company is a discrace and prey young vulnerable people and should be looked into . Would never use this company ever again and wont recommend it to anyone .

Very unhappy with the insurance company…

Very unhappy with the insurance company as my daughter has just passed she is 17 years old and me and my partner cannot drive anymore due to ill health she was going to be our way out we live in a rural village and now we have no way of getting out the village
And then had a message from the insurance company to say that they’ve cancelled my daughters insurance because she hasn’t mentioned the tinted windows in the back
I was like really can they just cancel it just like that so I spoke to the chap and there’s nothing they can do please please if you have teenage children that have just passed their test do not go for this insurance it might be a little bit cheaper but in the long run it’s a pain
