Shout out to Rebecca’s

I have had my issues with this insurance company. However, recently have had a lovely lady called Rebecca on multiple occasions answer my call, who has been so helpful! Sounds so cheery on the phone and knows her stuff, you need more staff like her!

Keep well away from these

Cancelled policy due to expensive extra mile price phoned and was told I would receive a refund of 114 pounds in ten working days then received letter saying I owed them 193 pounds which I am refusing to pay them will fight them all the way over this

Absolutely the worst company I have…

Absolutely the worst company I have ever had to deal with. Extortionate prices for top up miles. Went over mileage limit due to unexpected move home as lockdown happened. No support when expressing concerns over mileage, expenses and other various issues. Wanted to cancel and change providers due to horrific service and was told I’d have to pay out all remaining instalments, adding up to over £500 in one go just to cancel.

Bobby at Smartwheels

We dealt with Bobby, he was fantastic, helpful and knowledgeable...made our purchase easy and fun. Would totally recommend Smartwheels to friends. They have a fabulous assortment of high end used cars...and fair prices. Good follow through and warranty.

Be warned - do not use

I would caution against using this company to insure a young driver. My 18-year-old daughter was left upset and without further insurance following the theft of her vehicle. The car was stolen, badly damaged but recovered due to the black box locator. Smart Wheels response to our claim was to cancel the policy and unbelievably to then demand full payment for all remaining premiums remaining £484.08! Apparently the right to demand full payment after their initiated cancellation is in the small print. Be warned

Cautious Warning About Going Over Mileage

Just a warning to be very careful and weary of this insurance company with regards to mileage.

My daughter's car was insured through these clowns and somewhere along the line she has managed to run out of miles a month before the policy expires and the company left us dangerously in the lurch after cancelling the policy.

I'd never heard of this before and didn't even realise it was a thing. My wife was a bit more aware having sorted the initial policy and having been part of the feeble communications and being slightly aware they were after more money for going over mileage. She even blames herself for not acting quickly enough. If you knew my wife though you'd know that not much gets past her and she's pretty good and quick at doing things as and when they need doing. Therefore I am 99.9% convinced that these people are at fault because there's no way any of us would have let it happen if we were fully aware. In fact I believe they may be being unlawful in their actions.

I am annoyed beyond belief at how they think they can get away with this and you can rest assure that our Smart Wheels radar will be fully deployed when choosing any future insurers!

VW Touareg trims damaged

Just got a brand new VW Touareg and 1st day skimmed the wheel trims, black gloss , well gutted, rang Sunny at Smartwheels and sent photo , gave me a price which was unbelievably reasonable, Adam came today and wow a fantastic job, looked like came out of showroom, brilliant would recommend them to everyone, told my friend and they had done as well, Brilliant and thank you Sunny and Adam

I will not be using or suggesting using…

I will not be using or suggesting using smart wheels again for the amount they charge to add miles on to your insurance policy mine has had to be doubled just to add another 2 thousand more miles on resulting in me having to pay way too much

They are slightly cheaper, but not worth the hassle

They are slightly cheaper than some other companies, but the customer service is very very poor. Took ages and ages to get our documents through, trying to confirm the policy was up and running took us about 30 mins on hold on the phone. The reward card they give is an absolute joke. We have been trying to activate the card on the website for over two months and it constantly tells us there is an error and to contact the website, but gives zero contact details. Have written to more than twice, but still no reply. The app they provide to monitor your driving results, looks and operates like it has bee done by 10 year olds as a school project. They have provided insure £149 cheaper than the other companies, but I dread if we ever had to make a claim, as their customer service and overall setup seems very very poor indeed. We will not use this company again.

Never any issues, Good rewards scheme

I have never had an issue with this company and found that having a black box for the first couple of years was virtually un-noticeable (as long as you drive safely & stick to the speed limit). My experience has been nothing but pleasant so far, my premium is low and I have decided to keep the black box for another year!

Also, the staff that you speak to over the phone for queries are so approachable and helpful. The only downside for me is that you have to pay a fair bit to have someone come out to initially fit the box, put one into a new car or have it taken out completely. However this in itself isn't that bad when you consider the fact someone has to come out and fit it, they're also really flexible with booking dates. The only reason I would critique this is because a few of my friends are with companies where you're sent the black box in the post and you can fit it onto your battery yourself without the fee. Maybe this could be something in future for the company to consider but who knows whether other insurers would give the same support as smart wheels.

Another good thing about smart wheels is you're given a rewards card that's topped up every couple of months (if you've kept a good standard of driving). The card can be used in so many shops and online retailers, having that little bit of extra money to spend is really nice! Overall, great company to go with for a black box & the most fairly priced I've found.

Good company to start with

I was with Morethan for my first year. They’re a brilliant company for young drivers who are just starting out. The app is really useful, tells you how many miles you’ve done and how many you have remaining before the policy ends. However, I would sometimes drive over how much is normally expected a week (I had a 6000 mile policy, so that’s around 115 a week) and the dashboard would say I’d need to buy top up miles. But if you drive more miles one month then less miles the next month, or if you just stick to your mileage limit, I’d ignore the dashboard if it says you need to buy more. This wasn’t a massive deal but something you should be aware of. Because of the pandemic, I haven’t drove that much and now I have less than 500 miles left before renewal in a few weeks, which is just enough.

A few times, they tried saying they didn’t receive the monthly payment but my bank statement Would show it has been deducted, we rang them and they resolved it without any problems so I can’t fault them for that.

The black box was strict at first but after a few months it was fine. If you drive sensibly you won’t have a problem with morethan.

Amazing comapny

Been with more than smart wheels and had a black box and can’t fault them. Black box has been so good and was fairly cheap for my first year of driving. Managed to keep my score about 9 so been getting regular money back and also am set to get a discount next year. Definitely suggest this company for nee drivers. Also any issues I had, they sorted right away!

WORST INSURANCE COMPANY EVER

The worst insurance for young drivers. Black box might as well have a mind of its own. Didnt drive for a week yet says I was driving journeys and marking me down for bad driving??? Made a claim back in June for a minor incident and every time you ring you get through to someone they put you on hold for 20 minutes and then decide to put the phone down. But even when you do get an answer its 1 step forward to steps back. No communication there side. Yet my renewal claim went up £2000 from this. Changed as soon as I got the option to. Worst insurance company ever!!!!

Extremely poor service

Extremely poor service. After a car incident, they were very slow and a year later, they still have incorrect, incomplete notes regarding the incident.
Have been waiting 7 months for a simple email confirming no claims, after speaking to them on the phone multiple times, still waiting!!!

Whilst insured with them, insurance was expensive and top up miles were extortionate!

Absolute pathetic company

Absolute pathetic company. They’ve already came to the decision in regards to the accident and who’s at fault, but they’re making us wait until after insurance is finished to give an “outcome”. I don’t think it takes half a year to solve a small claim? They don’t consider the law, the highway code or anything for the claims, just what their lazy brains can comprehend. My renewal quote from them is £3000+, whereas it was £1.4k last year. Other companies are asking for £1.4k for THIS year. Avoid them like a plague. Find a better blackbox company, or pay a little extra for no blackbox.

I took out a policy on line with my…

I took out a policy on line with my details as the paying person but the policy in my daughters name.
No claims in the first year the auto renewal came out £650 more expensive than other very reputable companies without a black box.
I phoned to cancel the policy to be told only my daughter can cancel and that it cannot be cancelled on line.
My point is that this is very poor service on both accounts above.
Whilst on the phone to them I was told they have millions of customers and they did not think this was poor customer service.
Auto renew and very high premiums on renewal be aware,

Awful company!!

Was with smart wheels for my first year of driving ending (14/11/20) With no message email or call asking if I wanted to renew with them they took the money out of my account without permission when I have already got a new insurance with someone else... they take money for anything they can such as me living with my boyfriend for 6 months In a different town they wanted to charge me an extra £30 a month for it!! If you have finished your insurance with them I’d keep an eye on your bank account!!!!
