This was the second car I’ve bought from here and once again it was a great buying experience. The salesman gave us enough time alone to view the car and we had free rein on the test drive and went wh... See more

I am sharing this to warn other buyers: do not rely on verbal promises or "in-house" MOTs from Sparshatts of Swanwick. I paid £22,500 for a Golf GTD sold with a "Full VW Service History" and a "Clean" internal MOT from Dec 2025.
The Reality vs. The Sales Pitch:
Despite being told during the viewing that they "prep their cars to an extremely high standard," an independent inspection performed just days later (with negligible mileage added) revealed:
Structural Safety: Both rear wheels were buckled and one showed signs of being welded to fix previous damage. I was told this was "common"—a staggering claim for a performance car at this price point.
The "Ghost" History: While they advertised a full VW history, I obtained written confirmation from Volkswagen that the car had no record of ever being serviced at any of their dealerships.
MOT Discrepancy: Despite their "Zero Advisory" internal MOT, the car had brakes below manufacturer-recommended thickness (their defense was they were still legal), a broken front undertray, misaligned tracking/headlights, water ingress in the boot and rear light causing a fault, a permanent ECU fault code and constant Travel Assist/SOS faults.
The Dispute:
When challenged, the dealership was evasive. Significantly, they kept all communication to phone calls and refused to put their defense in writing. They point-blank refused to acknowledge the professional third-party safety report unless they inspected it themselves.
It was only after I threatened formal legal action under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and presented the written proof from VW that they finally engaged. Even then, they only accepted the rejection based on the missing history—continuing to ignore the safety findings. To ensure a prompt refund and collection, I even had to waive a £507 garage invoice for the inspection as a "reciprocal gesture of goodwill."
The Resolution:
Once they realized I was prepared to take the matter further, they collected the car and issued a full refund. While I am relieved to have my money back, it does not erase the 10 days of extreme stress caused by being sold a vehicle that was fundamentally misrepresented and unfit for the road.
Verdict: If a car passes an internal MOT with no advisories but has buckled wheels and thin brakes, their "high standards" are questionable. Get an independent inspection before you sign anything.
The guys in service workshop are all knowledgeable, straight talking, friendly and honest with their findings. Twice needed their expertise within a month and both times sorted without drama, and really quick too. No hesitation in recommending Sparshotts Service centre /workshops for any mechanical investigation and repair.
No hard sell nor gimmicks, just strait forward and honest. The car was presented well and has performed well since ownership.
Initially thought the folding mirrors did not work but later found it did not have them, typical German cars :-)
Very strait forward and helpful, thanks
I turned up a week early for my appointment but the man behind the counter said not to worry they would fit me in. Which they did and my service was completed by lunchtime! Great service.

Bought a car from the Havant branch, Richard looked after us well. Very happy with the purchase experience.
We did have an issue with the car, we were again looked after by Richard who sorted a courtesy car with no issues, kept in touch and resolved our problem in a professional and efficient manner. Thank you
They were fast to respond and gave me a decent deal. There were a few minor issues that James sorted quickly. Thank you.

Very happy with the service given to us by Jason we liked the look of a car we had seen on sparshatt website but at the time the car was at another showroom … sparshatt team managed to get the car to our local showroom the next day - the paperwork was sorted on a very timely manner and we were able to drive away the same day.
Brought an Audi Q5, really nice salesman and car. I got a decent price for my old car put in as part of the deal but there was a couple of things;
Firstly, Spershatts say the cars have a fully inspected by their experienced and qualified technicians prior to sale and professionally prepared and valeted. When I drove my car off the forecourt I got up the road and the oil light came on and had to take it back to the Havant showroom. The manager was embarrassed about this and sent me to a local company to get the oil checked and filled, so not a good start. There was also no floor mats in the vehicle so again asked the dealer. They agreed to, as a gesture of good will, to purchase a set on EBay for me which was nice. I was asked what type I wanted, rubber or carpet type so went for the carpet type. On delivery they ordered and send rubber so although nice they ordered they did get the wrong ones. I did email the company but got nothing back. The car is great as said but this is why I only give 4 stars
I purchased a BMW M2 at Swanwick branch
Very friendly & the service was excellent highly recommend this garage :) thanks to Adi the manager & team
Purchased a BMW 2 series from Sparshatts Havant. Issues to be resolved before collection were not done, with the salesperson opening lying about a supposed van fire on the day of collection. Car collected with faulty indicators, a puncture, a brake warning light on, seats to be polished and a box of trade Autoglym left on the passenger seat for me to resolve later.
The car has since had numerous faults, with the Autoprotect warranty not covering any of them, as it excludes electrical wiring and many other parts.
Purchase from this dealership at your own risk.
From start to finish we received a good sales experience. When I first enquired about the vehicle, communication was quick and clear and we arranged a test drive for the next day. By far, the best part about Sparshatts is that they allow you to test drive the vehicle on your own. This meant that my husband and I were able to concentrate on the test drive experience and to have a conversation about the car instead of having to make polite conversation with a sales rep. It was very useful and secured a sale.
A great experience with the team. My second car bought from Sparshatts.
Everything was handled quickly without any fuss. Highly recommend
My experience with Sparshatts Group was very good. The car which I had viewed online beforehand was not a disappointment and I have been really pleased with it.
Jason was very helpful and knowledgeable, and the follow up communication since I bought the car has been good. All in all great service.
Car was exactly as I expected. Staff were helpful at all times. Great experience
We had such a great experience with Jason - he was honest and open and never made us feel pressured at all. He explained everything very clearly, and let us test drive the vehicle on our own. We part-exchanged our car and were given a really fair price for it. I would 100% recommend Sparshatts to anyone.

Initial phone call enquiry was helpful. Jason answered all our questions, & we arranged an appointment to see the Hyundai i20. The decision was to have a cup of tea/water & proceed to trade our car for the above car.
We were very happy with Sparshatts group, & the drive home with the car.
Thank you.

Very informal without any pressure to purchase a vehicle.
Also it was very helpful when Jason helped complete the info on line.
