In advance of an event I decided to have some coaching as I'd never been on a mountain bike before. Brendan 's enthusiasm, experience and thoughtful approach mean that I've improved well beyond where... See more

I had a great time with my nephew out…
I had a great time with my nephew out on the green and blue track, I haven’t ridden a bike like that in about 20 years. I would definitely be coming back again
Amazing experience
Aidin was a really good coach - super with the kids and full of great advice
can’t recommend enough
Friendly helpful service
Friendly helpful service. Excellent bike in perfect condition.
Great hire bike and blue trail
Really helpful staff, great hire bike, really fun blue trail (I've only been on a mountain bike half a dozen times). My 12 yo also enjoyed it. Great afternoon out!
Fun day out
Friendly staff, accomodating and quickly received our bike hire. Trail was fun, exciting and challenging! We tried green trail and blue, was not sure we would be able to complete our trail in time with the bike hire but managed.
It would have been useful if there was a marker either a third way or half way through the blue trail course to return to car park, felt a bit lost.
Very good trails
Perfect experience with my kids. Variety of trails was good for all of us.
Excellent
Barbara was great with my daughter. She got her riding by the end of the session.
Wonderful day out!
Wonderful day out through the woods, great trails, great hire bikes and wonderful service from the team.
Turned up without booking
Turned up without booking. Hired one bike as others in the group had their own bikes. Staff were very polite, knowledgeable and helpful.
Gave good advice about rides, routes and safety.
A great experience thank you
A great experience thank you. Lots of awesome trails to explore, and the hard tail MTB’s were excellent. Looking forward to our next visit.
Great staff couldn't do more to help
Great staff couldn't do more to help. Bikes ready for us when we got there and all in great order. Would highly recommend.
Great service and value.
Saturday morning. No queue, great bikes, great service.
The process of saying hello to riding away took less than 10 minutes.
No nonsense or sneaky upselling either.
Worlds apart from our hire experience in Wales where we were given rusty, aged bikes with loose handlebars and flat tyres.
Reliable, well-run hub with great staff, good kit, and proper support on the trails
We’ve used Swinley Bike Hub multiple times and it’s consistently been a very solid experience from start to finish.
Practicalities first: parking can get tight at busy times, so it’s worth arriving with a plan. Don’t forget to pay by phone (location code 804048). Toilets are in the Discovery Centre next door, and there’s also a BP/M&S nearby with toilets if the Discovery Centre is busy or closed.
Shop and kit: you can buy pretty much all the biking essentials on site. We’ve bought gloves, riding glasses, full-face helmets and body armour there, as well as cleaning products, oils and greases. What stands out is that they only seem to stock reliable brands rather than cheap filler. If you need a replacement part (for example a visor for a full-face helmet), the staff will actually look up the correct part and order it in for you rather than fobbing you off.
Bike hire: the hire bikes are high spec and easy to hire. The process is straightforward, and the bikes we’ve had have been well maintained and trail-ready and are reasonably priced.
Support on the trails: there is a ranger you can call if someone gets injured or if younger riders need help getting back. That’s a big reassurance, especially if you’re riding with kids or less confident riders. The number is on the hubs website. Also worth downloading what3words as youll find location references on all the maps now.
Staff: genuinely a can-do attitude. The consistent theme is that it’s about helping and supporting your day out. I would recommend them as a mental health friendly company so if you are a bit anxious about new places, people here will always meet you where you are at... so beginners are given the same respect as someone who rides regularly. That makes a real difference to the overall experience.
Coaching: this is worth mentioning separately. Even a few hours of coaching makes a big difference. When you understand the principles of riding properly, you spend far less time worrying about coming off, and you reduce most of the avoidable incidents. It’s a good investment if you want to enjoy the trails more and ride with more confidence. Its is very good value and not as pricey as most of the other riding places... although dont tell them i said that, we like it being an accessible treat.
Overall, Swinley Bike Hub feels really well run, properly equipped, and focused on riders actually having a good day out rather than just getting them through the door. We’ll keep going back.

Parent and child jump coaching with Aiden
We did a parent and child coaching session with Aiden.
Learning jumps and drops. Aiden was a great coach providing verbal feedback but also video so you could see exactly what he meant to then work on next time. Hard work but great fun.
Hired 2 hard tails as well.
Weather was pretty awful but stopped raining when we got there and didn't stop us having fun.....just got a tad muddy 🤣
