I placed an order for three bottles of Macallan 25 (value over £5,000) with a guaranteed delivery date of 10/04/2026 for a time-sensitive special occasion.
The order did not arrive on the agreed date and was delivered late on 11/04/2026, making it unusable for its intended purpose.
What is particularly concerning is the inconsistency in the explanation provided. Customer service stated that the parcel was dispatched and collected by the courier in time. However, tracking evidence shows that on 10/04/2026 (the scheduled delivery date), the courier had not yet received the parcel, and it was only handed over in the early hours of 11/04/2026.
This indicates the issue was not a courier delay, but a failure to dispatch the order in time.
Despite this, their final resolution was limited to a refund of delivery charges and £20, which is not proportionate given the value of the order and the missed occasion.
For anyone else in a similar situation, it’s worth knowing that if you paid by credit card, you may be able to pursue a claim under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act for breach of contract when a service is not delivered as agreed.
Based on this experience, I would not rely on their guaranteed delivery service for any time-critical purchases.

First and foremost, please accept our sincere apologies for the delay in delivering your order. We understand how important it is to receive orders on time and to be able to rely on the commitments we make, and we’re very sorry that we didn’t meet those expectations on this occasion.
To provide some additional clarity, we carried out a full investigation with our courier partner. Unfortunately, due to a system error, a group of orders collected from us on Thursday 9 April could not be scanned or sorted as planned. This resulted in delays, and while we were advised that efforts would be made to recover the affected deliveries over the weekend, tracking updates did not become visible until the early hours of Saturday.
As part of our efforts to put this right, we offered to refund the cost of the delivery service that was not fulfilled as expected, along with a small gesture of goodwill for your patience. We also offered to arrange and cover the cost of a return, should the delay mean the order was no longer required, allowing you to receive a full refund for the goods. Unfortunately, both options were declined.
We would still very much welcome the opportunity to resolve this matter in a way that works for you. Please do let us know how you would like to proceed, and our team will be more than happy to assist.
Once again, please accept our apologies for the disappointment caused. We hope to be able to bring this matter to a satisfactory close for you soon.

It is difficult to get the whisky i like in the UK, but the whisky exchange not only had it but at a sensible price. The other supplier in the UK charges almost double what the whisky exchange was charging. It was a far faster delivery than I was expecting and the packaging was some of the best I have ever seen for bottles. Will likely use them again.
