Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 1,391 reviews, reviewers had a great experience with this company. Many customers found plants to be of good quality, often arriving healthy and well-packaged, with some even receiving more than ordered. The ordering process was often easy, and delivery was timely, with some reviewers noting helpful communication. However, some customers noted significant issues with plants not growing or arriving in poor condition, described as mushy, rotten, or dead. Long wait times and shipping delays were also experienced, sometimes causing plants to arrive too late in the season. Additionally, some found customer service unhelpful, especially concerning non-viable plants or after certain timeframes.

Disappointed

Out of all the roots you sent me only one grew and it took longer than expected to arrive

We're sorry to hear you were disappointed.

During our busy spring season, processing times can occasionally be longer than usual due to the high volume of orders. Many dormant bare-root plants also establish at different rates, and depending on the species, some spend their first growing season developing roots before producing visible top growth the following spring.

We appreciate your feedback and thank you for giving our family-owned nursery the opportunity to serve you.

We're sorry to hear your order didn't fully meet your expectations.

Most of our plants are shipped as dormant bare-root stock, and that information is included on the product pages because bare-root plants establish strong root systems and ship safely. We're glad that four of your six plants established successfully. The remaining dormant plants may still be developing below the soil, as many bare-root perennials don't produce visible top growth until the following spring.

Thank you for your feedback and for giving our family-owned nursery the opportunity to serve you.

I purchased 2 plants and only one of them survived. They both shipped dormant but only one has grown leaves. It has been over a month now.

We're sorry to hear one of your plants has not shown new growth yet.

Many dormant bare-root plants emerge at different rates, and it's not uncommon for one plant to leaf out well before another. Depending on the species, some plants spend much of their first growing season establishing roots and may not produce visible top growth until the following spring.

We appreciate your patience and thank you for giving our family-owned nursery the opportunity to serve you.

The roots came in soggy brown paper bags and smelled like they were starting to rot. I'm not confident that any of what I planted was viable.

We're sorry to hear you were concerned when your order arrived.

Bare-root plants are intentionally packed in moist paper to help retain moisture during transit, so damp packaging is normal. Many dormant roots also have an earthy smell that can be mistaken for decay, but it does not necessarily indicate the plants are unhealthy.

We appreciate your feedback and hope your plants establish well over time. Thank you for giving our family-owned nursery the opportunity to serve you.

Waited a long time for shipment

Waited a long time for shipment.
Ordered on 4/27/2026.

I notified them on 5/19/2026 and they said they were running behind 10-12 business days.
All of a sudden it was shipped the next day on 5/20/2026.
Just would have been nice to be notified of that.

Thank you for your feedback.

We sincerely apologize for the delay. During our busy spring season, we experienced an unusually high volume of orders, which extended processing times beyond our normal schedule. We're glad our team was able to provide you with an update, but we understand your point that more proactive communication would have made the wait less frustrating.

We appreciate your suggestion and will continue working to improve communication during peak shipping periods.

They came very late, then died.

They came, but they took forever tobet here. They were black. I planted the roots anyway and they didnt make it. It has felt hotter than the 97+/-° that the weather says it is. If the mail had not delayed they would've probably made it, other plants have. It was just easier not to get frustrated trying to get them replaced.

We're sorry to hear your plants didn't establish.

While bare-root plants often appear dark or black due to dormancy, that is normal and not an indication they are dead. Unfortunately, prolonged shipping times and extreme summer temperatures can make establishment more difficult, especially when plants are transplanted during periods of intense heat.

We appreciate your feedback and are sorry your experience wasn't what we strive to provide.

Ok, but not great.

There were no planting instructions with the baggies or on the website so I did my best and tried to use Google for the rest. Several items never came up, but it's possible that they're ephemeral? I don't know and I'd rather replace those plants from another company at this point. It also took almost a month for everything to arrive after I ordered, and only a few of those days were in transit. So instead of planting in mid-May as hoped, I didn't get things in the ground until early-June.

We're sorry your experience didn't meet your expectations.

Planting instructions are available on our website, through the QR code included with every shipment, and in our planting videos. Many native and woodland perennials, including ephemeral species, naturally spend their first season establishing roots and may not produce visible top growth until the following spring.

During our peak spring season, processing times can also be longer due to the volume of orders. We appreciate your patience and your feedback, which helps us continue improving both our shipping process and the information we provide.

Shipped way too late in the season

Shipped way too late in the season. Pretty sure I've lost 80+% of the plants due to a heat wave hitting right after getting them in the ground after they arrived over a month after the order was placed. Holding out hope that some of the 80% survived and I see some new plants next season. Was also short around 6 lyreleaf sage plants that I had to order from another vendor.

During our busy spring season, processing times can occasionally be longer than usual due to the high volume of orders. Unfortunately, once plants are transplanted during periods of extreme heat, establishment can become much more challenging.

Many of our native perennials also spend their first growing season developing strong root systems and may not produce visible top growth until the following spring, so we hope you'll still see additional plants emerge next season.

Regarding the Lyreleaf Sage, we apologize if your order was short. That certainly isn't the experience we want our customers to have.

Thank you for your feedback.

2/3 failure rate

Took a long time from ordering to actually receiving the plants (5/9 to 6/2), and by then we were pretty much into summer. Of the three different types of wildflowers I received, only the echinacea made it. Black-eyed susan and goldenrod never came up at all. I’m disappointed, and not planning to order from them again.
