Everyone I spoke to at Action Call was…

Everyone I spoke to at Action Call was incredibly friendly and helpful, and they helped me get sorted and get rescued when I was 130 miles from home and very worried about how I might get back.

I was a little apprehensive after reading some of the negative reviews on here in the past, but they didn't let me down at all.

Thank you so much!

stranded in France

Bought European breakdown policy the night before travelling to France. Arrived safely after a two day journey but broke down parking the car. Phoned in the incident 47 hours after taking the insurance out but then told that as it was within the 48 from taking the policy out that they would not help me in any way. Shocking! Totally missold. Stranded here with family.

We sold our car and bought a new car , they would not let us change our policy to cover the new one , and told us we would have to buy a new policy , and told me I would have to pay £6.99 to cancel the current policy . I have 6 month left on the policy and can’t use it .so I told them to leave it to run as i’m Not paying to cancel something when I have not had it long .

Unfortunately had a blown tyre and when rang for assistance was told this was a 1 call breakdown cover only!!, had i known this Before buying the policy i wouldnt have bought it.. waste of money and to add to this they charged £97 for call out to a 10 min job of changing a trye and again waited 1.5 hours.. not great will not use again. They didnt even tell us about the 1 call when called out 1st time. Bad customer care and misleading selling tactics.

Avoid this company like the plague.

This review is a continuation from recover cover who are Dynamo cover. All the same company running out of Cardiff Wales. Avoid this company like the plague. Complete rip of company. I won't bore you with the details but read other reviews and you will get the whole picture on this company. Stick with companies that you know and trust. This is one you will never be able to trust.

Absolute rip off!

Absolute rip off!! Have a few months left of cover and had got a new car. So called to tell them to change the policy to the new car. They said it's non transferable!! But nowhere on their Terms and conditions does it state this. They said they have to cancel the policy and charge me a cancellation fee!! What the? You won't transfer the policy and charge me even though there is still several months left on the policy. Absolute disgrace and I'm sure as it is not in the T&Cs, what they are doing is wrong! Never had a problem with changing the vehicle with other breakdown services previously.

Medical cancellation

Had taken out policy with this Company but fortunately had not needed to call them.
I had later been advised on medical grounds to discontinue driving so as a matter of courtesy telephoned them of the circumstances as I still had 8 months left before renewal.
I was not seeking any refund of the policy but merely wishing to let them know that I would not be seeking a renewal.
After informing them, I was asked if I wished to cancel the policy so I naturally said I would do so,therefore the immediate response was that you now will have to pay £7.99 cancellation fee as I had the policy for over 14 days. What a charming response!
My response was obviously to refuse and say I would allow the policy to expire at the appropriate time.
A prime example of customer service, and now having seen the reviews I was pleased that I had never had the need to seek their assistance and indirectly assume I've had a lucky escape.

AVOID at all costs.... Apalling service!

AVOID at all costs. Appalling service. Would give 0 stars if possible. We were left waiting for 3.5 hours in a tiny dangerous motorway lay-by in 2°c with no heating due to a broken radiator.
The 1st vehicle that came after 2 hours told us that he couldn't fix our car or tow us and then left us with no information regarding further recovery. We called the emergency number again to find that the staff were debating if they could send a recovery vehicle to us on the motorway. Uhm..... Sorry but I thought we paid for a breakdown recovery service!!! Was i mistaken?
They told us to wait to hear from them while they resolved it. We then had to wait another 90 minutes before a recovery vehicle finally arrived a shocking 3.5hrs after our call in. Please save yourself the time and stress of using this company!

Efficient, Friendly Service

I got home nearly an hour ago after my fuel pump got clogged and my engine wouldn't start.

All it needed was a quick tap on the petrol tank to dislodge the blockage. I felt a bit silly that that was all that was needed but like the attendant from C & E Recovery (Preston) said, if you don't know you don't know!

I was seen in about half an hour rather than the one hour ETA and the attendant was very efficient.

The only thing that stopped me giving 5 stars was that they forgot to charge me the £25 excess when I first rang. This caused a slight delay but nothing major.

Customer Service Scammers

Like many others, Action Call have tried to claim I need to pay a £6.99 fee to cancel because I have changed vehicle. But it says nowhere in the documents that the fee is £6.99. Before this I would have given them 5* as I'd had a breakdown and they sent a recovery vehicle out in half hour. But their customer service is shocking. They're cheap and nasty. Read the small print. Buyer beware...

Unauthorised Customer payments taken

I asked whether I could transfer my breakdown cover from one registration number to another and was told "No". I then asked whether I could cancel and be refunded the remaining 7/12s of my policy premium. I again was told "no", but was then asked whether I wished to cancel my policy to which I replied "No thank you". The next response was "we have cancelled your policy which incurs a £6.99 cancellation fee", and they had already charged my credit card. I argued of course, and have written proof that I had specifically instructed Action-Call not to cancel, and I demanded a refund, but they refuse. This is a scam! Action-Call first make money on the unused breakdown cover whenever someone discards or sells their car, AND then charges the customer a cancellation fee to grab more money from the customer.

Scam ,not even one star

I just joined a few days ago and when i called them to assists me they asked me to pay £156 plus VAT for misfuelling service, but before paying for the policy I had checked and misfuel was definitely included in their service but now they asked me to pay £156 ?! they wouldn't let me cancel the policy after being no help and wanted to charge me even more only because I phoned them for help. their service is rubbish and I will never use their "service" again!!!

Absolute waste of time and money

Absolute waste of time and money - i can only echo the 1 star reviews for this company and wish i could make it zero - i think price comparison sites need to take a long hard look at their practices and refuse to let them bid for people's hard earned money. The 5 star reviews appear suspicious and it wouldn't surprise me if they were fake - use at your own peril. Sincerely hope you read this before forking out for their useless policy.

AVOID!! I’d i could do 0 star I would

Shocking service!!
Left me on the motorway for dead.
Took my insurance over 1 month ago to start on the 2nd October. Today is the 3rd October...
I had a flat tyre at a very dangerous spot of the motorway 2ft from my door is the motorway and no barrier to go to saftey. Called to asked to be towed off to somewhere safe and I’d change the tyre.

Got declined!!!
Reason: my policy starts 2nd October aparantly there is a 48 hour period your not covered. They left me on a dangerous spot on motorway and refused to cover me.
When you take a policy out you expect it to start on the day you request the policy start date. Not 48 hours after!

I have never received such appalling customer service.

I will be taking this further to the financial ombudsman.

Very positive experience, despite circumstances!

Took out Pro cover with ActionCall as a new customer and very glad I did when the front of my exhaust dropped off on entry to a busy dual carriageway. Called their breakdown hotline and was dealt with immediately. Within 5-10 mins, I recieved a text with an ETA for the recovery truck (Lloyds), approximating just over an hours wait. I was so so pleased to see the truck appear within less than an hour. Both call centre and recovery staff were friendly, helpful and professional. Overall positive experience despite the circumstances. Would recommend.

If I cud give less than 1 star I would

If I cud give less than 1 star I would. Avoid this company at all costs
Breakdown cover that only covers you for a flat tyre if you already have a spare tyre or repair kit.
Well if i had a spare tyre or repair kit i wouldn't need accident cover
Hidden in small.print
Customer service is appalling
Nearest garage was less than a mile away and they said that although I wasn't covered they could tow me at a reduced pay as u toe rate, £90 + VAT
Seriously avoid this company and spread the word

What a load of rubbish

What a load of rubbish. I had to buy a new vehicle and they would not let me transfer my new one over, I had to purchase a new policy to continue. I have told them to cancel my policy and I will go elsewhere. To cancel I would have to pay them £6.99!!! I told them to leave the policy and under no circumstances are they to renew next year. They are not going to receive a penny more from me.

I did try to call several times but no one picked up.

Unless you have more money than sense, do not use this company. I never will again!

Appalling company, avoid at all cost!!

I had breakdown cover with this company and when I damaged a wheel when I hit a pothole I called them. Firstly they denied that I had cover with them but eventually they agreed that I did. I was on a busy A road in Kent, not some hard to find back road but they couldn't send me any assistance for at least 90 minutes. A passing motorist stopped to help and changed the wheel for me. I rang Action Call immediately ( within 20 mins of my original call ) to tell them I no longer needed their help and thought no more about it, except that I would probably use AA or RAC next time. That was in mid April and last week I had a call from Action Call demanding £25 excess charge for the call out! I told them to get lost unless they had some proof to show me that anybody had actually set off to come to my aid. They said it was all in their records, oddly that wasn't sufficient proof for me. I have a brand new car now with Road Side Assistance free for a year so I rang Action Call to cancel my policy with them and I had to pay £6.99. for the privilege. What a bunch of crooks! They don't even deserve 1 star but I had to rate them to write this review. AVOID THIS COMPANY whatever you do !!!!!!
