UK passenger Southampton to Guernsey (return)

I had the same experience as all the other reviews on here giving a one star rating, travelled 22nd April to 27th April Southampton to Guernsey return with my wife for a holiday to see friends who live there. This was our first encounter of any delay getting to Guernsey (apart from fog). I have used Blue Islands before and they were very good then but something very bad has happened to the company it seems since then. The pilots and on board staff are professional as you would expect (once you actually board the plane which unfortunately took over 3 hours outbound and a cancelled flight inbound to UK - which was via Aurigny).

There seems to be a piece of legislation which Blue Islands customer services quoted to me when I too attempted to claim my costs incurred:

"On review of your claim for reimbursement of costs incurred under UK regulation 261/2004, it was determined that as you were departing the Channel Islands and as Blue Islands is a Channel Islands based, non-UK/Community carrier, statutory compensation or reimbursement of costs incurred under UK regulation 261 / 2004 would not be applicable on this occasion".

It seems we have not got a leg to stand on having now read about this regulation above, when it comes to Blue Islands. Unless the Guernsey government - the 'States of Guernsey' have any influence on this.

I have already communicated my concerns on Facebook posts on relevant Guernsey sites - 'Visit Guernsey' & 'Blue Islands' and emailed the Chamber of Commerce in Guernsey and Jersey.

I will be looking to better more trust worthy and reliable forms of transport to get to Guernsey in future.

Flights cancelled at last minute in…

Flights cancelled at last minute in February Jersey to Southampton appalling customer service lied to which led to additional costs to make final leg of journey to Edinburgh. Of course having received emails promising to offer payments never heard another word. Further similar experience weekend before last leading to additional costs of £565.00 to make BA flight as no-one would talk to me and had to get home. This has to be the worst airline I have ever travelled with in over 30 years of travel. Commuting to and from Jersey is a complete lottery using this appalling company

terrible company .

terrible company .
I have to commute to jersey for work , guernsey /jersey should be a lifeline service /essential service .
I commute weekly .
I obviously cant wait until the new inter island ferry service starts .
The company is a disgrace.
They don't care about its customers ,
(look at there terms and conditions for any delays or cancellations )
They have a complete monopoly , no other means of travel , we pay an exorbitant price for a 10 min journey.
I wouldn't mind if they provided a reliable service for the price but they don't, and are getting worse .
I cannot remember a time when they have ever been on time , endless cancellations costing me monies/stress .
I now have to travel the day before costing me extra in expenses , endless anxieties with regards my work .
yet another day spending over 8 hrs. at guernsey airport .
no ground staff or customer care services , just Aurigny staff whom are fantastic, but obviously frustrated themselves by lack of support of information with regards blue island flights .
this company is obviously going bankrupt / or going into administration.
Just terrible company cant wait for the ferry service to start .

Another day another delay

Unfortunately I am another person who seems to find this company is consistent with the previous reviews. The flight is delayed by over 5 hours with no communication. I'm writing this review while still waiting for the plane to arrive. I wish I had read the other reviews before I booked with them.

Disgusting airline service

Disgusting airline would never use again had flight from Southampton to jersey on the 18th may .flight time got moved three times we had pre-booked our train tickets ..and due to the flight being moved from 11.20 am to 8.20 am there were no trains to get us there to catch that flight.so we paid for train tickets we could not use.and had to get a taxi costing us £130.blue islands don't care about that at all .but the worst thing is when we came back .I could not check in on line . would not recognise booking reference.tried ringing blue island and as usually nobody answered phone .so had to lose half a day of our holiday and get a bus to jersey airport .no staff to be seen anywhere . found one blue island staff member who was totally useless .in helping us .I had to resort to asking a swiss air assistant if they could help .who did his best .and found that despite me having my booking confirmation all with blue island logo's.passenger names and flight times he told me there was no booking on the system.and nothing they could do .I had to buy more tickets to get a flight home at a cost to me despite already paying for a return ticket I had to pay another £563 for the flight home .have emailed blue island and all you get in reply is a standard response to do everything on line .have tried ringing multiple times but nobody answered phone .also the flight I paid for to get home that was delayed two hours.if this is the only way to get to jersey they are giving jersey a bad name .I will never go to jersey again as long as the disgusting service blue islands is still in business .I advise anybody who is thinking of using blue islands to think again .I don't know if I will ever get my money back .due to total incompetence it has cost me an extra £690.on top of paying for the original return flights .good job they don't have an office you can visit as all hell would brake loose.

3 hour delay reason given operational reasons then another member of staff Sid a difficult passenger on earlier flight
I had 10 guests with me with autism and Down syndrome
We missed our dinner at the hotel and they gave us a small voucher each.
When we arrived in Jersey taxi driver said they are rubbish and cancelled one flight due to fog and there was no fog and hadn’t been fog for 2 days in Jersey.
Return journey just a 45 minute delay so we considered ourselves es lucky with that flight.

UTTERLY ABYSMAL AIRLINE.

UTTERLY ABYSMAL AIRLINE.
If I had read the reviews I would never have used them. We were going to Jersey for 4 days for my birthday flying from Bristol. Flight cancelled about 12 hours before. Tried phoning at 4.45pm and the next day at 9.15am and both times got a recorded message saying they were closed. Tried calling about 10 times during the day and constantly engaged. Emailed their on-line form twice and no response. Where are they? Do they have any staff? Arrived for our re-scheduled flight and it was almost 4 hours late!!! The man at the car hire company said they are terrible and always cancelling flights. He said you should only ever come to the island using EasyJet. Looking at the Jersey Airport departures board, so many of Blue Island flights were either cancelled or late. How can a company get away with acting in such an appalling way and remain in business? Is there no governing body? Due to other commitments we had to be back home on the day of our planned return flight and couldn’t risk another cancellation so we sadly had to abort our holiday and stay at home. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! ONE STAR IS TOO GOOD FOR THEM!!

Appalling!!! Wish I’d read the reviews before booking!!
return flight cancelled yesterday at very short notice. Only 1 flight a day so booked for next day £298. Contact phone line useless, not open for hours then wait for 22 mins and cut off. Airline will not pay compensation. More problems and delays flying today.

Awful Company, avoid at all costs

Cancelled flight with 12 hours notice from package holiday company, due to depart at 10:45am on Friday 18th, had a call at 10:30pm the night before to say the flight had been cancelled.

This was booked as a package but if I knew it was a Blue Islands flight and had done my research, there is no chance I would have booked from seeing all the other negative reviews on this page. It appears last minute cancellations without refunds/compensation are the norm for this airline.

We were offered a flight from an airport over 100 miles away, with no compensation for the travel this would take. Because they have offered you an “alternative” they do not let you cancel your holiday for a refund. Their alternatives are not suitable and no offence, I could swim to Jersey quicker than heading to their alternative airport and having to pay out my own pocket for the travel and parking there.

Anyway this was purchased as a gift for my mother’s birthday and we can no longer go. I am almost somewhat relieved as I would have been stressed the whole time that the flight home would have been cancelled also.

In addition to avoiding Blue Islands, please avoid Channel Islands Direct (trading as Premier Holidays) who support the use of this airline and also pocket your hard earned money (and can obviously claim it back through their business insurance).

Absolute miracle how this company is still in business considering how many negative reviews are here. Would love to know if anyone has successfully managed to claim against them.

Shocking

Shocking! Worst airline we’ve ever travelled with. Flew EMA to St.Helier Jersey. Outbound flight time was changed, no contact to inform us, it was only by checking departures that I noticed. Return flight, arrived at airport 07.30am to check in for our 9.50am flight to be informed that there is no 09.50 flight ! Ground crew made a few phone calls and said they would get us on the afternoon flight as we weren’t on the list. No feed back from the ground crew they weren’t interested. Eventually I managed to get in touch with the airline and we got on the afternoon flight only for it to be cancelled just before boarding. No information was given no advice on where to go, NOTHING! we eventually got on a flight the next day to Birmingham. Blue island won’t pay for our overnight stay or taxi transfers not to mention the £95 back to EMA for our car and the extra parking cost. We will never fly with this airline again and strongly advise anyone not to either. Even the locals don’t recommend this airline. 7hrs with minimal facilities, unhelpful ground crew and extortionate prices.

Cancellation at East Midland airport

Cancellation at East Midland airport. Nobody was informed until we saw on screens whilst waiting for check in to open! Still no reason why. Nobody to talk too at all, could only ring up. The next flight offered was 3 days later so our whole trip was cancelled!l

Cancelled 3 hours and 17 minutes before take off. I had just arrived at the airport. They emailed me instead of ringing. I called their customer services and they are no help at all. No reason why the flight was cancelled. Checking their reviews this is very common. I have no idea how they still have a licence to operate an airline.

I cannot remember the last time I or someone I know flew with this airline and did not either have their flight significantly delayed or cancelled. Should they be given a licence to operate Channel Island flights if they cannot fulfil a handful of flights to/from the islands each day? Probably not

Avoid at all costs

Avoid at all costs. Had misfortune to have four flights to Jersey then on to Grenoble for a ski trip over a week. Everyone they delayed, changed the time, cancelled or diverted to another airport.
Staff are friendly but even check in staff at airport said they never use them.
