Blue Islands and in action of law makers
How does a government of Jersey allow an airline that has a history of disruption and happy to hide behind that they do not have to provide any compensation, accommodation or support for a called flight. What a shambles and shame for Jersey Law makers and especially for a "local airline".
Having travelled to the Islands for many years and experienced a few delays over the years. This was the first trip or hopefully many in the future since Brexit and Blue Islands is a poor reflection of the islands.
Flights cancelled at short notice due…
Flights cancelled at short notice due to 'operational reasons' on two consecutive weekends. This was not weather related, both days good flying conditions. One cancellation with only 18 hours notice. No refund or compensation offered. Fly with any other airline if you can. They are outside of 261 rules so can get away with anything they like.
Flights left early
Flights left early! 35 mins flights from Southampton to Jersey. I believe that only negative reviews are on here, I was so worried to fly but it is a very nice company, would be nicer if they gave you a snack.
Abomination to aviation
Always late, delayed or just don't end up going at all.
Literally the worse airline I have ever had the misfortune to use.
Every single person I know in Jersey who has to use them ( not much choice unfortunately ) have issues with this airline. Poor customer service, flights always delayed, lack of upto date info or explanation and cost a fortune too for awful service.
Don't fly!
I'm from Jersey and I just so happen to be an aviation freak who was reading through the replies. Yes, Blue Islands is sucky! Flybe was the dominant and better airline but they went bankrupt (the day before my skiing holiday, mind you!) and Blue Islands took over their routes. Cancelling/delaying flights to and from Jersey is reasonable, the weather is bad here and the airport is directly next to the sea.. With Jersey having one of the biggest tidal ranges, there can be strong winds at high tides. There's also been extremely foggy days recently. However, they should be providing refunds and helping people find lost baggage which they do not appear to do. I've had an okay experience with them, but it's not the best ever. I'm tall and claustrophobic, their planes are rather small and old and cramped compared to others. They also have frequent delays. The Jersey airport closes at 9pm, so if your flight is delayed to a point where you'd get there at 9 or past 9, the flight will be cancelled. My flight was almost cancelled, which was bad because I 100% needed to be home for the next day. They're the only ones who do direct Jersey to Southampton, though.
Pending review Unbelievable Jeff! 15% sale, booked, no discount applied!
Had an email yesterday - all flights to jersey discounted by 15% with a 15SALE prior code.
Booked flights via link in the email - it even pre-filled the promo code when I booked.
Checked after without promo code - same price!
Emailed them and had a reply from “Harry” saying “
We are sorry to hear that the discount code was not applied, however, we regret that we are unable to apply the discount retroactively.”
Atrocious. No accountability. Shocking airline
Blue islands cancelled my flight in error which I only found out about when trying to check in. I Was sent to swissport at bham airport for assistance to be told they don’t represent blue islands and so I should call the helpline. On calling the helpline I was greeted with an answer phone message saying it was bank holiday (it wasn’t) and they were closed . I couldn’t rebook a seat online as it was too late so I had to go home missing 2 days work and a number of meetings.
When calling the next day I was told they had staff sickness and so there hadn’t been anyone around to answer the helpline! Surely that can’t be allowed?!
After complaining by phone and being told I would be re imbursed for lost earnings and re booking costs I sent my complaint in writing. Over the next 7 weeks I have chased them for a response and all I have got is ‘we apologize for any inconvenience caused’ . After nearly 2 months I have been credited with just the car park re booking fee with no explanation as to why they have not paid out the full amount claimed. I have asked to speak to the decision maker and will continue to chase as someone needs to take some accountability.
As a regular visitor to Jersey and having used Blue Islands many times before I can honestly say that I have never experienced such abominable treatment. I will NEVER use them again.
You need to take out travel insurance…
You need to take out travel insurance with this airline as if your flight is delayed or cancelled, you won't be able to claim any compensation and they will quote you, "as Blue Islands is a Channel Islands based, non-UK/Community carrier, statutory compensation under UK regulation 261 / 2004 would not be applicable on this occasion." We have used them 3 times, the 1st time we were due to fly from Dublin but as they hadn't signed their EU contract, we were re-routed to Belfast (2.5hrs) in a coach on arrival at Dublin airport - another 2.5 hrs from Belfast to Dublin airport on the return journey to collect our car. That time they did offer a voucher for 2 tickets to Jersey return, but these had to be used bofore the end of the year. As it was the end of September, this wasn't feasible for us, tried to change this but they refused. 2nd time was ok. Last time was at the end of September, we were stuck at Jersey airport for over 4 hours due to a technical fault with the plane. There was no apology, there were no updates or annoucements, moved to gate from departures for 2 hours and then back to departure lounge for 2 hours. This totally impacted our arrangements that evening so contacted Blue Islands for compensation and guess what, "as Blue Islands is a Channel Islands based, non-UK/Community carrier, statutory compensation under UK regulation 261 / 2004 would not be applicable on this occasion."
We will not be flying with this airline again and you should be aware that if you have any delay or cancellation (which are fairly frequent), it will be on you at your own expense.
Great experience with Blue Islands.
Good experience with Blue Islands.
We flew to jersey and back with blue island from Bristol airport. I was a little worried after the bad reviews but we had a very good experience with them. The Blue Islands staff were lovely and very helpful. Our flight arrived on time on Friday 1st Nov 24.
The return flight which was scheduled for Monday 4th Nov was cancelled due to bad weather, Blue Islands re-booked us on a flight for the following day, however, that flight was also cancelled due to weather conditions and again Blue Island re-booked us on flights for the following day, the flight took off on time and arrived in Bristol on time. Whilst waiting at Jersey airport, we observed Blue Island staff were working very hard to make sure they cleared the back log of delayed passengers, ground staff and air crews done a fantastic job and were all very polite, pleasant and helpful, they are a credit to Blue Islands. I must also say Jersey airport staff were very good. We had a lovely holiday in Jersey. Well done to all at Blue Islands and thanks for getting us home safely.
Further, I have made a claim through my travel insurance for costs incurred due to the delays, I asked Blue Island customer care team If they could provide a letter explaining why the flights were delayed, I was worried that I wouldn't get a letter in time to make a claim through my travel insurance, I needn't have worried because I received a letter 2 working days latter, now that's service for you.
Well done all at Blue Islands airways, keep up the great work.
Still waiting for my refund
Diabolical customer service. Still waiting for a refund for a cancelled flight despite numerous emails to customer services.
I was originally told it would take 28 days, then 30, then they couldn’t give a date due to volume of refunds. 36 days and counting and now considering reporting this absolute shambles of a company.
Buyer Beware - and take out Insurance!!
As you will have read from other reviews not an airline to have great faith in.
BI fly from various UK airports to Jersey but if you investigate just a little you will see they are very unreliable. Our flight from Jersey to Bristol was cancelled shortly before take off. No help with finding overnight accommodation so thank you Booking.com.
Because the company is registered on Guernsey they are legally able to claim they are not part of the UK or EU and are able to dodge any compensation claims when flying out of the Channel Islands.
If there's a choice use Easy Jet if not consider Travel Insurance - glad we did. They get two stars as flight out was ok!.
Worst airline I have ever flown with
We had our flight cancelled from jersey with this cowboy outfit, the plane had a technical fault allegedly. We were sat in the airport due to depart 18:15. Only to be told at 21:30 it was cancelled. No compensation for our extra nights accommodation as they have a very handy loophole. I will never fly with them again and urge others not too. Absolute disgrace to the airline industry. Not even an apology from them.
Blue Islands shambolic flight
Blue Islands cancelled our flight recently, no prior notification until we got to airport. Girl on checkdesk said there was no representative to talk to from their airline? Blamed on weather which fair enough, safety comes first. Had to get taxi and hotel overnight out of own pocket, no recompense or responsibility, not even apology email. Next day not many on flight we were bumped onto. Our guess was that our original flight was quite empty on the previous day so easier to put us on next days flight to save cost! Would have been nice to be acknowledged though. Lack of communication and very poor customer service from start to finish. Will not be using again and would not recommend. Stay away or use EasyJet in future.
Shocking sevice
There was a 4hr delay from Exeter to Jersey on Wednesday 2nd Oct. The return flight on Sunday 6th Oct was eventually cancelled, after actually being sat in the boarding gate ready to depart. At 7.15pm the announcement came: the flight is cancelled, return your duty frees, vacate the airport and rebook. Everyone scrambled to get back into departures to rebook - the earliest flight we could get onto was two days later (8th), requiring two nights additional accommodation and taxis to get us there. Absolutely shocking to be told that because Jersey is not part of the EU, they have no obligation to us other than offer a flight back to the UK. No compensation and our insurers will not cover costs.
Little support during cancelled flights
Our flight out to Jersey from Exeter was cancelled by almost 4 hrs on Weds Oct 2nd. Then on our return Sun Oct 7th the flight was delayed due to what sounds like should have been a fixable problem. After 4 hrs and little communication we were told it was cancelled and we needed to rebook. Flight to Exeter the next day was full so we had to book a hotel, book a flight to Southampton and book trains to Exeter to collect our car. No support was given. On arriving at our hotel in st Aubin for that night , the manager expressed no surprise at what had happened and said that Blue Island often have similar incidents and delays /cancellations. Steer clear of this airline!
Badly organised, poor management and no staff
Last evening flight out of East Midlands to Jersey was cancelled for technical reasons about 40 minutes before it was due to take off. The plane never left Jersey so they had notice of this far in advance of 40 minutes.
Chaos followed, which I find surprising as the airline has done this a fair few times recently and it should be of no shock to them!
They get two stars as eventually, 2.5 hours later they got their act together and everyone settled in a decent hotel, although they failed to book any taxis the following morning to take passengers to the airport.
Swissport, the ground staff, were brilliant and remained calm, although you could see the frustration dealing with Blue Islands.
These matters happen, but when they do, have a process in place everyone knows they need to follow, including staff working past 5.30pm to rebook flights!
Not as bad a Easy Jet but that is like being asked whether you want to be shot or stabbed.
Never ever book with this airline.
Never ever book with this airline.
Our return flight was cancelled after it was due to have left. It was the last flight of the day.
The ground staff assured us that we would be compensated for having to stay overnight. This was not true. The company has refused to countenance any claim by hiding behind their small print. This entitled them to cancel any flight without compensation.
The company is a disgrace.
Frequently Cancelled Flights 😡
Just to make anyone who is considering using Blue Islands, they frequently cancel flights without warning. We recently turned up at Guernsey Airport after a wedding on the Island to find our flight to Southampton had been CANCELLED 😡. No text, no email and no call. The hotel we were then put up in was a little better than a hostel. I would highly recommend never using this service.
Not even a last resort
Flights are usually delayed if they're not cancelled. Hardly any notice or a straight answer given. Manage to loose luggage in Jersey airport, which is about the same size as an average conservatory. Even the check in staff are embarrassed to work there.
With the amount of "technical issues" it makes you wonder how safe their ageing fleet actually is.
The sooner they go bust and a proper airline take over, the better.
They deserve zero or minus…
They deserve zero or minus stars....Just reading all of the reviews on here proves that....They should not be in business - limited flight days (only 2 a week!!!! Pathetic lack of choice for a city!!!!) & times from Norwich to Jersey...total lack of choice...I thought, why not go one way with blue islands to jersey because flight time was okay going out & return via Gatwick with easyjet because they have excellent choice of every day & multiple flight times, then train back to Norwich...But, no, because blue islands are charging almost £200.00 for a single one way flight Norwich to Jersey - extremely greedy of them when there are loads of empty seats & the flight is only 2 days away! They should be completely lowering the prices but no, they'd rather put us all off booking with them&fly almost empty instead of applying last minute discounts to their very unfair&extortionate disproportionate hiked prices!!!!!!!!!!
& from other reviews, sounds like staff are unprofessional not there when flights are cancelled, so most unhelpful, hiding in shame instead of helping, & sounds like planes are flithy!!!!!!What a sham!!!!!
