Great

Took a few days to acknowledge they had the phone but once it had been checked, I had the money in my account straight away. Expected to be knocked to rock bottom price for a broken phone but got the maximum available so very happy with the service overall. Only took a week from start to finish.

Significantly reduced offer and refused to return iPads

Beware! I sent 2 iPads on seperate references to click2recycle which were quoted at £103 each. I received an email a few days later from TRG ( Technology Recycle Group Ltd ) saying it was not possible to pay me via PayPal for either, can they send a cheque for each iPad instead which I agreed to. A couple of weeks pass and no cheques were received. I contacted them and they said they must be 'lost in the post'. A couple of weeks pass again and still no replacement cheques arrived. After another follow up email from myself the cheques turned up a few days later. Both cheques were made out for £60 each, £43 less than originally quoted. When I questioned the difference I was told both were marked down because they were marked. I can say with my hand on heart that both iPads were in very good condition, exactly as I described, no chips, scratches or cracks. I declined this £60 each and asked for both iPads to be returned. I was informed that the iPads had already been sold on so this was not possible.

I will certainly never use them again.

No communication

Never again. I was given no indication of when they received my phone. I waited just over a week and emailed them and got a response 2 or 3 days later saying they had just received it. They then knocked down the value to for a chip on the bevel. The phone was in perfect nick so they were chancing it. I attempted to reject the offer via their website only to be told I had no orders with them so I emailed...... and emailed again 3 days later. Only after receiving an email saying thanks for recyling the phone with them at the reduced rate I contacted the recycle search provider as they don't have a phone number anywhere. The chap gave me a number and I finally managed to get the original amount they quoted. Ideally I wanted the device back but they said the device was already gone (without my permission)

Safe to say AVOID!

Reply from Click2recycle

Hi,

Thanks for your review of our service and I'm sorry to hear it wasn't a positive transaction.

Our customer service team respond to all emails within 1 working day.

The device would have been recycled if no response was made within 2 days of the re-quotation email as per the terms and conditions.

I am glad to hear that you have received the full payment for your device and this has been resolved.

Regards
Tasha

market value the driving force behind re-evaluating

I recently upgraded my old mobile phone contract, resulting in receiving a new handset. My old phone Sony Z2 Xperia was in excellent condition so decided to have it recycled and get some money back.
I knew the phone was in excellent condition (Sony screen protector and Sony case since I got it) which meant I knew whatever I was offered I'd get full price.
I looked through the endless list of mobile phone recyclers online and came across Click2recycle.
They offered me a high price for my phone, not the highest but according to their website it was all about the condition of the phone.

I spent a few days removing everything off the phone and re-setting it back to factory settings.

I used their 'trade-in pack' to send my phone back, even wrapping it in extra paper to protect it.
I waited, received emails stating they're eager for the phone and to send it, which was strange as it had already been sent. Posted it on a Wednesday they didn't get it until the following Monday.
Eventually received an email saying one of their skilled engineers was testing it.

7 hours later I received another email stating 'We've tested your Sony Xperia Z2 and following our Quality Assessment Process, we have found that your item is in a different condition than you originally described.
Sony Xperia Z2 - £72.00 - original quote
Sony Xperia Z2 - £50.00 - downgraded quote
The reason for the downgrade is due to: Missing sim tray.

I immediately contacted the company via email, explaining that the sim tray was at my home ( I had forgotten to reinsert it during re-setting, a very tiny plastic cage) and that if they give me their address I would instantly post it to them, meaning they could have it the following day.

They responded 24 hours later - 'I'm afraid that the phone needs to be sent in complete in the first place to receive the offer.'

I am absolutely gobsmacked by their response, they had a phone which is in 99.9% excellent condition, they have a customer willing to pay for the missing item to be sent to them, express delivery in order for the phone to be 100%, yet they've refused, reduced their offer by £22 for something which costs £2.48 and will not budge.

I had the phone returned, in response Click2recycle said 'the phone is in excellent condition but has been reduced from the original valuation because the sim tray was missing and the market value of the phone had reduced'.
As noted, this was never mentioned as 'another' reason for downgrading the price before, there is no mention of my phone being checked against it's market value, it does not mention this before, during and after the process of recycling my phone nor does it state this within their terms and conditions. All I was told is that the phone's value is based upon it's condition when they receive it.
If they are going to use other factors in determining a phones value, then this should be clearly stated within any of their literature whether it be online, over the phone or via email.

And a further update, I was told by Click2Recycles customer service team that I would never get the full price for my phone. Well as of today 14/09/16 I have successfully sold my Sony Xperia Z2 somewhere else, they've given me the full price and funds transferred.

I will let you make your own assumptions and theories regarding my experience with Click2Recycle, suffice to say I will never use them ever again.
