Is there a legitimate way of finding out thks
I thought this was a genuine hmrc site…
I thought this was a genuine hmrc site originally. Have just received the claim forms and noticed Marriage Allowance Claims is a company and not a government department. I then did some checking and discovered it's a scam. DON'T USE!
Absolutely a RIP off firm go through…
Absolutely a RIP off firm go through the proper tax company we were entitled to £172.00 and recieved £52 they took minimum 100% commission plus tax I have written to complain and emailed them and they have ignored me we are thoroughly appalled at the outcome.
I have an update
I have an update, everybody who feels unfairly treated contact Financial Ombudsman Service - this is what I have done. I managed to cancel my deed by telling them I will report their accountants and contacting the Ombudsman. I was ready to do this too and had prepared everything.
I used a company called Marriage claims…
I used a company called Marriage claims allowance, looked just like an HMRC site. Very convincing and legitimate looking website. I completed the eligibility check back in September, didn't do anything about it until I got an email telling me that if I didn't complete the claim I would risk losing out on the money, long story short...spoke to HMRC and told me I was due back £658 back but when I spoke to Marriage claims allowance, they told me I would receive a cheque of around £300!!!. KEEP AWAY FROM THESE COWBOYS!
No mention of fees
I responded to an online ad that looked like the application would be dealt with by HMRC. When the form arrived in the post I read it thoroughly because it did not come from HMRC and right at the end, things became apparent - the form requested a signature that legally assigned the full rebate to the company 'Marriage Allowance Claims PO Box 10521 Leicester LE16 0HE. At no point were any fees listed or any indication that deductions would be made from the rebate - but common sense told me that they would not be requesting an assignment if all the money was coming to me. I immediately binned the letter and the form but today they sent me another. I cannot believe that HMRC are allowing this company to profit in this dishonest way and not writing to the taxpayer to advise them that they are potentially being scammed out of a all, or at least a large proportion of their tax rebate unnecessarily. This needs to be investigated and this company closed down.
Scammers
I am not going to explain my situation as it’s exactly same as other victims. Guys please let’s do something useful. Campaign, group complain, or something like that. I am not familiar with law but I think there should be something to deal with this fraud.
Scam
I too thought it is HMRC site, the way the site is and the way they write the email is like coming from HMRC, I, fortunately, realized probably early enough to avoid them, The form in on the way to me and of course, I'll never sign it but do I still need to contact them to cancel any contract? I have not signed anything but have applied online which prompted them to send me the application form.
Scam alert
I too thought this was the official HMRC site. I fortunately realised as soon as I received the confirmation email, and I read their Ts and Cs regarding their charges, so I won't be completing the form when it arrives.
My question is, as it says in the Ts and Cs that as soon as you receive the email, you've entered into a contract, but you can cancel BY POST ONLY within 14 days, do I need to do this, or can I just ignore the letter and form?
BOGUS COMPANY SCAMMERS!!!!!!
If I could give no stars I would ** SCAMMERS this company are scammers and fraudulent I never new of any fees as I certainly would not of agreed to such astounding amounts 60% that’s over half of what we’re owed and we’re still waiting for a check and this can’t be stopped!!!!! Why are these people allowed to get away with this? **B#####S** if anyone knows of a way to stop a cheque and get it cancelled so I can got through the real HMRC please please advise, and if anyone reads this do t use this company!!!!!!!!! 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!Really upsetting!
My husband just received is tax calculation this morning and we saw our application for mariage allowance had been granted (almost £1200!). We rang HMRC to ask how we were going to get that money to be told we had applied through a 3rd party company so that the cheque would be sent on to them!!!I filled in the form myself and definitely do not remember reading anything about them being a 3rd party company. We genuinely thought they were a government organization and never saw anything about paying any fees either!!!
I have tried ringing them but straight to a voicemail saying they should get back to us after 7days!!!No email address to get hold of them. HMRC said I need to write to them to revoke the deeds of assignments but that this will only work if that company revoked them too!!From reading the other reviews, I can’t see that happening!!
I rang fraud action who wouldn’t even raise a report because the voicemail said they would ring back after 7 days!I have explained that by that time, HRMC would have sent them the money but sadly that didn’t make a difference!
From what I have read, I stand to lose about 50% of that money and I don’t even know when or if we will get some of it!!Not great considering my husband is out of work and we have 2 kids to feed and could have release a lot of the stress we are currently under if we could have had this money before the end of feb (the full amount would at least cover our rent and council tax!!)
I have asked HRMC for a copy of the form so I can check for what I must have missed...if anyone else has any advice/ managed to stop them getting any money, i am all ears!! HRMC still hasn’t issued the cheque for them but I am not holding much hope of being able to stop them 😢
This is the biggest scam !
This is the biggest scam !! And according to hmrc there’s nothing we can do or them for that matter I’ve been in contact with hmrc since Nov 11th as like everyone else I thought I was dealing directly with hmrc , I’ve written to the company called to which you will get no answer or reply , I’ve also written twice and spoken to hmrc at least 8 time. Telling them this company is scamming people they don’t want to know. Today I got a letter back from hmrc saying the they can not revoke deed of assignment with out marriage allowance claims ltd. signing even though I’ve requested they investigate them. As I signed a fraudulent deed as 1 was never made aware that they where a third party. Does anybody have any advice how to stop these people there names are jack Johnston and Richard harwood.
I have received a letter from the HMRC…
I have received a letter from the HMRC concerning the marriage allowance claim I applied for I was told that the cheque was sent to a third party company in Leicester which would take 30% percent of the money plus vat i find this to be a rip off the biggest fraud I have ever seen I am disgust about this situation the company sent out a form for you to fill out they never mention that there would be a charge or anything of this nature what a joke something must be done the stop these fraudsters for getting people money.
BEWARE THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM .Me and my husband got a letter in the…
Me and my husband got a letter in the mail today saying we are owed £700+ pounds, for marriage allowance(tax) . So we called to find out how to claim this since we had no clue this money was owed to us. They told us that the cheque been sent off to marriage allowance claims! We did fill in the for that was sent to us but genuinely thought it was HMRC. We had no clue smh. My question is how can HMRC just release a cheque without contacting the person before. And there's nothing that can be done for them to request back the cheque. This is NONSENSE. CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHO TO CONTACT TO REPORT THESES CROOKS, THIEVES AND HOOLIGANS. ITS PEOPLES HARD WORKING MONEY THESE PEOPLE ARE GOING AFTER.... contact action fraud 0300 123 2040
DO NOT GO ANYWHERE NEAR THESE LOW…
DO NOT GO ANYWHERE NEAR THESE LOW LIFE’S!!!!
Same as several people, thought I was dealing direct with HMRC, I don’t remember my wife ever giving any authority to these robbing b#@*@#d’s. Until I received a letter from the real HMRC telling me they was sending my check to MARRIAGE ALLOWANCE LTD.
Contacted HMRC straight away to tell them to cancel this cheque, they advised already sent out to them, and nothing they can do 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬.
I AM NOT HAPPY TO SAY THE LEAST!!! I will be contacting the police along with citizens advice and trading standards. If anyone has been able to get 100% of there money back or been able to cancel with these scum bags, please let me know.
Done my parents for over £400!!
Done my parents for over £400!!

Preying on the vulnerable is the lowest of the low!
hi.i had the same problem with this…
hi.i had the same problem with this company ,they did not mention about the fees ,so i lost £362.
Look, they have the videos in internet showing about the money that people can get,but do not explain about theirs fees,so some smart person can make the same video about them ,that they do not mention about the fees and download it into YOU TUBE, TWEETER ,EVERYWHERE ,helping the people to go the government website ,but ignore them.
At least somebody will be saved and HE CAN HELP THE PEOPLE.
Any ideas?
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
Got my cheque today they have taken 35% for fee £334.50 and also £66.90 for Vat at 20% Come on it's a tax refund. Don't remember at any time that a fee was mentioned as I was under the impression that I was dealing with HMRC. I will be contacting Citizens advice on this matter and also HMRC customer services.
I would advise you to deal straight with your local Tax office. You can also contact this company who are based in Leicester Tel no 0116 218 4006.
