I love my Tuta account

I love my Tuta account. Been with them since it was still Tutanota. I love how simple the app is to use. I don't want anything overly fancy or complicated, just a private email address and Tuta hits the ball out of the park.

Very happy with Tuta Mail

Tuta Mail (formerly Tutanota) has been my email provider for many years and I love it! I’m very happy knowing that they end-to-end encrypt my emails by default and protect my privacy. For me it’s a much better alternative to Gmail or Outlook because it actually respects my privacy and their team is always working on new exciting features.

Ubelievable that auto responder is not…

Ubelievable that auto responder is not a part of my premium plan. I have to pay 3 times the price of my current plan to get auto responder!

Are you aware that you are only an email provider? And even a poor one a that? I can get a whole MS Office 365, with 1TB per family member (up to 6) with Outlook, Access, Word and much more, for the price of your "Legend" plan.

I opened an email but they just deleted…

I opened an email but they just deleted my account in days without any explanation. I use this email on some of my account and now I'm stuck because I can not change my email address on these website too because they all send verification link to my deleted email account.
Stay away from them. You can not rely on their email addresses at all.

Tutanota.com is great

Tutanota.com does everything that it claims to do. Customer service is great and always responds to my questions. The price is very reasonable for a great product.

Where’s the support?

Free service has been fine until I was hacked, for the first time ever, yesterday. Can’t change password, can’t get access to any meaningful support and can’t even close account.

Stay far away from the "free" version.

Stay far away from the "free" version.
I have both free and "paid" version.
The free version should not be even offered free.
There is NO protection from spam or phishing even if you signal each and every email. You will be bombarded with every imaginable unfiltered email that's out there.
The free version is buggy. Ex, cannot send emails, cannot receive emails or they arrive late. Notifications often sent by Tutanota offering to "report" the problem but nothing changes.
The spam rules (online) are confusing if looking for help and because your a cheepy who doesn't pay too bad for you. Figure it out for yourself!!

A terrible service run by enthusiastic amateurs.

The idea of secure private email is a great one. Unfortunately, Tutanota get this wrong at every opportunity. Both the PC and the Android clients are continually being updated but remain unstable and poor in features. The servers are painfully slow and there is a lot of downtime (think days) which is a catastrophe for a business user. The support dept appears to be run by one person who is overwhelmed and therefore completely ineffective. All in all, I wish I had gone with Proton and I believe you should seriously consider them before signing up with Tutanota.

Takes to long to approve…

It’s been over 72hrs and my email account is still not approved. No ability to send or receive emails while waiting approval and o way to contact customer support to find out hold up.so far worthless.

Dire, buggy mail client

OK I'm prepared to take their security credentials on trust, and I like that because of their small user base I could get some quite snappy email addresses.
Their email clients, on the other hand, should be taken out and shot. The most miserable, unintuitive, messy, feature-poor piece of software I've seen in a very long time, it looks like something a not-that-savvy teenager knocked up in an afternoon. Awkward, devoid of functionality and the Android app routinely spits programming errors. No bridge to 'real' email clients. Not a credible business or personal tool. Horrendous. Would not recommend.

Used free version for some time

Used free version for some time, then switched to a paid plan, all feels safe and private, different MFA flavors work well from different devices. Desktop client and webmail interface are not ideal but good enough. Best solution among privacy email providers

I felt like "Oh pity

I felt like "Oh pity, they need financial support, I will pay them for an encrypted email account."

Oh, ok, keep this 64-character recovery code if I somehow lose my login.

So I lost my login ability. Entered my recovery cod.
It doesn't work. I am a very literate person, and followed the instructions (only lowercase letters and numbers are used to avoid confusion between O and zero 0. Do they care? No.

I have a free account now.
I don't use it for anything "save worthy".
And, I recommend NOT using encrypted email accounts. (Hushmail is hackable, by the way. And protonmail has bugginesss too. So Tutanota/keemail is in the same path -- unfortunately having access is more important than encryption. HONESTLY, NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH GMAIL. SOoooooo, gmail it is.

Horrible customer support

Horrible customer support, I got my account locked because I swapped from paid to free customer not on time, and after 48 hours of sending an email requesting urgency to unlock it still nothing. I have all my sensitive info there that I need to access with urgency. Was a paying customer just to support the company and the product but after this I will move to another provider.

Can't be trusted

Been using them for 6 years. Suddenly I can non longer login. Have a yearly membership and am paid up until 2025. No notice just one day working the next not. Customer service is no existent. Avoid them at all costs.

Poor email client and support

I used to rate and recommend Tutanota. Unfortunately, I can no longer do so. There email client is majorly lacking in functionality, making it impossible to delete large emails and create space forcing you to upgrade to more storage at a cost. The email client is also very basic. Support is poor. We have been stuck for days with no access to emails which is seriously affecting our business and no response to support emails.

Disabled my account, said I was spamming

Created an account, sent a few test emails to myself at other addresses, Tutanota disabled my account saying I was sending spam. I've emailed them for help but they don't reply. I was testing the service to see if I was happy with it before subscribing.
Update 2 weeks later: Still no reply to emails. Contacted them through Instagram DM but no reply there either. They don't accept twitter DM.

My opinion

Tutanota is an awesome alternative to Gmail, Yahoo, AOL, etc. They’re even better than ProtonMail in my honest opinion especially after they deleted my account and wouldn’t restore it for little to no reason stating that I had multiple accounts. I’ve paid for their premium service previously with Tutanota and love the support features as well as the ability to store things offline in the iOS application.

Can't log in

Can't log in. Recovery access code won't work either. Seems to be a very buggy platform for a paid service. It is only 12 Euros per year but Gmail is free and works flawlessly (for me). Fortunately I don't use Tutanota for work. I contacted their support but haven't had a reply yet. I hope I don't get charged for anoher year - this is a problem when you sign up for services that renew and charge automatically and you can't communicate with anyone at their end.
