The opening hours are inconvenient + no lights

The opening hours are inconvenient. The Self Storage closes at 6 pm on weekdays, 5 pm on Saturdays, and 4 pm on Sundays. This does not take into consideration people who are busy during the day and have time to spare in the evenings.

The fluorescent lights outside my unit do not work, despite my reporting it twice. They still have not replaced the bulbs. I ended up using my own battery-powered lights, as the units themselves do not have any lighting.

Our standard opening hours are displayed online and in store, and extended access is available for customers with larger units, as well as in certain situations such as move ins, move outs, or where additional access is genuinely needed. We always encourage customers to speak with the store team so they can advise on what options may be available.

Regarding the lighting, thank you for raising this again. A staff check carried out last week showed the lighting to be working, however we have asked the store to carry out an immediate check again this morning and they will ensure the issue is fully resolved.

I stored here for approximately 1 year

I stored here for approximately 1 year. Costs are competitive but do increase after the initial discount period.
I had minimal issues until I really needed customer service and then was left very disappointed. I arranged out of hours collection access and then went on to pay for van rental and a friend to accompany. Sadly in the depth of rain the access gate was apparetnly resetting which left me in the rain 2 hours and eventually unable to access at a cost of 100-200 pounds. After raising the issue I was told that the gate was resetting. It then took me 3 months to chase a complaint and by that time thr regional manager then said they could not offer me any compensation as I was no longer a customer (obviously). Very very poor customer appreciation and service in the only moment that I required it, having paid thousands over the year of storage.

Limited access

If you work a 9-5 this storage is not for you. The times posted specify reception opening hours but are the entire site opening hours. In my opinion the requirement for contents insurance should be included in the quote. I do appreciate the customer service being decent.

We are sorry to hear that you found the access hours frustrating. Our St Albans site is not listed as a 24 hour facility, and the opening hours are clearly displayed both online and in store to avoid any confusion. While we do not have a record of this being raised with the team, we understand you may have preferred to remain anonymous. The store does often offer extended access passes when customers ask, particularly for move ins and move outs, and it is a shame this was not discussed at the time as they would have been happy to help.

Regarding contents protection, this is a mandatory requirement. Customers can either provide their own insurance that covers self storage, or choose our contents protection, which is explained during the booking process.

We do encourage customers to speak with the store team if their access needs change, as they will always try to assist where possible.

I have been with self storage a few…

I have been with self storage a few times now and they always seem to amaze me with their excellent customer service.Matt in particular was very helpful in a big way for me and I will always appreciate what he done for me.The manager and young lady there helped me massively too as I can't walk far with my condition and they offered me a ground floor unit which was fantastic.Also may I add,the units are half price but not sure how long for. I would recommend them to everyone.

The staff are helpful, friendly and knowledgeable and respond quickly to queries by email, phone or in person. The units are modern and easily accessible and trolleys are always available. The access code system, once you get used to it, makes the use of the storage facility at all times of the day or night feel safe and secure. The available toilet is warm and clean!

Complicated process

Complicated process, had to respond to a chat bot who had a first and surname and I thought I was dealing with a human, plus the bot didn't get the requirements right, at times it was very stressful.
The actual local people in Northampton working for the organisation were great, patient, understanding, easy to deal with and helped me to sort everything out, for which I am very greatfully. Thank you

I am extremely dissatisfied by the…

I am extremely dissatisfied by the costumer service. They created lots of confusion and the information wasn’t clear. The storage they offered me was pretty dirty. I have to clear it myself. Also there is no clear communication between people who work there. I was asked to fill a form ”100” times and actually everything had tö been done via the app but
No one told me this
I kindly ask for late access and on second round with full car the storage was locked.
I called emergency number they didn’t told me that it is closed by 9 pm but that I can access it only once. Honestly if I had time I would move out straight away.
The price is really high for
Really bad service. Unfortunately I won’t recommend it to anyone else and I will move my personal belongings before 3months because it doesn’t worth
The money I am spending.
