Lightfoot has been specifically designed to help businesses run safer and more efficient fleets. Unlike traditional big-brother black boxes, Lightfoot is all about the driver, the human-in-the-machine, and the person with the power to make the difference. Lightfoot empowers those in the driving seat to drive change by adapting their driving style through visual and audible prompts from our unique in-cab device. When drivers adapt to Lightfoot's smoother driving style, they become 'Elite Drivers' (scoring 85% or above). For some drivers that’s a big change, for others a small change, for some it’s no change at all. ‘Elite Drivers’ receive benefits and rewards via the Lightfoot app, which includes features such as The Drivers Lottery where 1 in 10 ‘Elite Drivers’ win cash prizes every week - we are the world’s first technology to reward better driving. When a fleet as a whole achieves Elite status, this can result in reductions in fuel consumption and emissions of up to 15%, reductions accidents by up to 40% and wear and tear costs reduced by up to 45%. Lightfoot is the only Insurer-endorsed driver safety technology thanks to validated accident reduction results seen over millions of miles of driving data. Lightfoot is installed in 30k+ vehicles and is used by 50k+ drivers from more than 200 companies who are committed to safer, greener and more efficient motoring. If you are a business customer already using Lightfoot and require support, please contact your Account Manager or support@lightfoot.co.uk If you’re a Lightfoot driver – our Engagement Team would love to hear about your experience through driverrewards@Lightfoot.co.uk - the Engagement team are here exclusively to help you the drivers, not your employers. We understand that changing years of driving habits can be challenging and even irritating at first. Remember, you don’t need to be perfect, the target is 85% not 100%, which gives you plenty of scope to drive in the amber and red when required and still achieve ‘Elite Driver’ status. We created our industry-first driver engagement platform – real cash, real rewards, real prizes, real winners – to ensure drivers are rewarded for challenge and inconvenience of adapting to Lightfoot. One in ten ‘Elite Drivers’ win cash prizes every week through The Drivers’ Lottery. As a driver, you are one of more than 50,000 using Lightfoot. The vast majority of drivers are happy with the experience, but a tiny proportion (0.1%) have used this forum to express their displeasure. We hope that your experience has been a positive one and that you’re here just having a look around, but if you are frustrated and here to vent your rage then please instead contact our Engagement team via driverperks@Lightfoot.co.uk - the Engagement team are here exclusively to help you..

Shitefoot it's dangerous

Dangerous. Completely inappropriate if you're doing a journey of more than a mile in a suburb.
Avoid.

[Edit to reply to Lightfoot's attempt at self validation]

Are you on drugs? I've driven all over the UK and most of Europe in the thirty seven years I've been driving. I'm licensed to drive pretty much anything other than tanks, ambulances and fire engines.
When your idiotic device tries to get you joining the A1 northbound at 40 miles an hour and wants to keep you at that speed for two miles. Because the camera hasn't seen a national speed limit sign. While HGV's are charging up behind you at 60mph.
How safe do you think that is?
This device is clearly made for people who do a couple of short journeys around town. It is totally inappropriate for anyone who drives over a distance or in any kind of professional capacity.
As for it's economic value. All that metal for engine repairs because you're constantly labouring the engine by not being able to shift through gears correctly. That's gonna be great for the environment.

Even accelerating from 40mph to 50mph in 6th gear on cruise control got me that sanctimonious "go steady" remark that is nothing short of insulting.
So it would appear then that Mercedes do not know how to correctly calibrate their vehicles to accelerate properly?

Hello, thank you for the feedback. We're sorry to hear that it's taking a while to get used to your Lightfoot device. Please remember that you are in control of the vehicle and should use your own best judgment to drive safely. Lightfoot does not measure your speed but the efficiency of your driving. There are times when you must drive inefficiently, for example, joining a motorway from a slip road or at a roundabout. This is why we set the Elite Driver score at 85% to allow for real-world situations. Your device should be positioned just outside of your eyeline, so you only need to glance at it occasionally, as you would a speedometer or a satnav when you want to check your progress.

Encourages slow dangerous driving

Encourages slow driving, encourages people pull out at junctions extremely slowly. It also encourages people to drive on to slip roads on motorways and carriageways, very slowly without the alarms going off. In fact , it's extremely dangerous if you try to keep a top score.

To Sencitive

More times than none you lose on the putting wee game and I find that a few of the vans ive used the lightfoot stays amber way to long even after lifting your foot off ....

Pulling out of junctions id dangerous as you like to keep it in the green but in order to do that you really need to make sure there's nothing coming for at least a lorry lengths

Just like the normal lottery, there is no guarantee that you will win, but we do ensure we always offer a 1 in 9 chance of winning, no matter how many people are eligible. With a chance to win up to £100 every week, we do recommend that you keep entering, as you could be the next big winner. Annoying and distracting

If you're looking for a device that increases fuel efficiency across your fleet, Lightfoot may in some cases fit the bill. But since they changed the settings on my van I've gone from averaging 40mpg to around 35mpg. I'm sure this is due to me being in too high a gear just to stop Lightfoot moaning at me. It will however leave you with frustrated and distracted drivers.
I've been driving a van with it fitted for 2 years now and have always managed a weekly score of over 85
% which qualifies me as an "Elite driver". This allows me enter prize draws and lotteries. So far I've won just over £20, not much of an incentive to be honest.
The biggest problem with Lightfoot would appear to be how they measure "efficient" driving. I get an irritating voice shouting "Go Steady" when the device believes that I'm driving inefficiently. However by their support departments admission, the system is unable to know the road conditions, i.e.: wether you're going up a steep hill or not.
If I chug up hills with my foot flat to floor in 6th gear with the engine labouring inefficiently, then Lightfoot sits there quite happily and doesn't utter a peep. If I try to drive in an efficient manner and change down a gear, so that the engine is pulling cleanly, Lightfoot goes into something of tantrum shouting "Go Steady". My crime? going above 2500rpm it would appear. In fact going above 2500rpm in 3rd, 4th, or 5th gear is enough to receive a warning, regardless of traffic or road conditions. hardly indicative of a sophisticated driving monitoring system.
If you happen to drive in an area with lots of roundabouts, Milton Keynes for example, then be prepared for lots of shouting and warnings, as accelerating between roundabouts really upsets it.
I've raised the issues I experience with customer support e.g. getting a warning for joining the M1 from the M25 at 60mph in 5th gear (again I suspect this was simply because I touched 2500rpm in 5th).
I've pointed out that despite their claims that warnings are issued due to harsh acceleration, I'm getting them whilst accelerating gently but merely exceeding 2500rpm (the redline is 6500rpm). But they don't appear to want to acknowledge this and simply say that if you're score above 85% don't worry and ignore the warnings!!
In my experience Lightfoot is an annoying distraction that does nothing to improve driving standards, Fuel efficiency may increase, but fuel efficient driving is not necessarily good or safe driving.
You can see by their response that they will not accept that it gives you unwarranted warnings, even when you are driving in an efficient manner.I don't think many people would suggest 60mph in 5th gear is worthy of a warning, but Lightfoot do.
Again from their response, you can see that they don't issue warnings if you happen to exceed speed limits. All that matters is gaining a score of 85%, regardless of how you drive to achieve it.
