Good idea, average execution

Good idea, average execution.
The price is great, and the apps work ok, but everything feels sluggish, especially login. The customer support is very slow to respond even for paid business users.
Encryption seems useless unless the other party is also using Tutanota, or is willing to login to temporary Tutanota mailbox just to view the message.

Finally a rechargeable bubble maker so…

Finally a rechargeable bubble maker so I don't have to use 6 batteries. This is a great machine and very well thought out. First of all its rechargeable, second you fill the bubble solution from the top of the machine so there is no mess in turning it over or trying to get the solution into a small frontal opening. Third, it is a 6-0" by 5-1/2" square and is very stable. Fourth, the controls are very easy to operate and it produces tons of bubbles for a very, very long time on a full charge. Last but not least it can either be stationary or rotate back and forth. So if your interested in getting a bubble maker for your kids or a party don't waste your money on the other ones just spend the little extra and get this one, you won't regret it.

Censors Emails

Not anonymous in that they scan emails and then ban you if the don't like the emails. I sent 10 legitimate emails (not porn or illegal) and they closed my email then would not reply to my questions.

Nothing special, if anything

Tutanota has gained prominence by paying large amounts of money for high-profile reviews to flood the top end of search results; as well as developing a cultlike fandom of depreciative followers. This is to drown out the chance of potential customers digging deeper, to find the honest reviews.

Tutanota operates much like a sociopath: They offer you a good price, to paint over their sleazy practices and moneygrubbing tricks. If you dislike the idea of this, you are considered ungrateful; and an example will be made of you.

But, in the end, Tuta is a business. And, like every underwhelming example of the modern corporate climate, they exist only to serve themselves.

Worst email provider I ever had

Worst email provider I ever had. Horrible to admin or find anything if you used it for a longer time because the search function doesn’t really work.
Despite all the security measures my account that has been spammed the most with phishing mails landing straight in the inbox on a daily basis.
Fundamental basic functions seem to be for paid accounts only.
Thought I would solve the issue by creating another email account and have the Tutanota Account forward to the new one… but no forwarding function. Also no auto-response function.

Not good

Tried setting up,
gave it a password through my pass word manager.
couldnt log in.
OK i'll try the lost password route.
so it asks for my email address
and a new password.
Click OK
It says invalid logic details.
Circular madness.
I've given up.

Horrible experience with TUTANOTA…

I recently established two TUTANOTA email accounts which worked for about 4-5 days in which time I transferred emails of some importance from a GMAIL account which I had planned to shut down. After about the fifth day, both email addresses went off line and would not allow me to log in any longer. I did all I that I could to log in again in order to retrieve my data but to no avail. My credentials and the recovery sequence no longer worked and would not allow me to get back in. I reached out to TUTANOTA repeatedly for help and as of right now, were a week into trying to get back into these enail boxes to get my data back with absolutely no response from TUTANOTA

Peace of mind that comes with encryption

I'm a paid user using for personal mail with a custom domain. I am enjoying Tutanota a bit more than one of the other notable end-to-end encryption providers. The UI is simple, if not austere. I wish it had threaded conversations but kind of digging the "retro RE:" feel nonetheless. Not sure I'd recommend if privacy/encryption is not primary concern because there are others with a better writing experience but my use is light and security is my priority, so five stars for Tutanota so far. We'll see how spam handling goes... Oh, and great price!

I do not recommend Tutanota at all

I do not recommend Tutanota at all, at least not an unpaid account. Firstly, I would repeatedly receive spam emails from supposed tutanota admin asking for verification of my account. When I would go to verify, the links very often were broken. I also was often unable to log into my account. Additionally, I would receive emails twice. Secondly, I could not search through my archived emails (which is only an option through premium). All of these inconveniences were worth it, however, as moving away from Gmail and mainstream online services is very important to me. Eventually, however, my email was hacked and as I was going to change my password, I was kicked out of the system and have not been able to log back in since. I have records of the original recovery code and have tried to use it to reset my password, but to no avail. There is no way I could have updated my recover code because I didn't even know this was an option until this fiasco arose. The Tutanota time has done very little to help me or compensate in any way. They are very difficult to reach and pretty inaccessible. I have switched over to protonmail with which I am very happy. I would recommend avoiding this service.

The only truly secure email service

Other "privacy focused" email provides do exist, but they still aren't fully secure and it doesn't take long to find articles proving that. And unlike most others, Tutanota is open source - this means that anyone, including security experts, can view the code and verify that it does what they claim it does.

Yes it is lacking a few nice to have features, but so was things like gmail back when it was as old as tutanota currently is. The app can be a little buggy sometimes, but that'll get fixed with time. Or maybe if it ever bothers me enough I'll go on and fix it, because it's open source which means doing something like that is perfectly possible.

i cancelled my premium account early…

i cancelled my premium account early this morning16/3/2020
i was receiving up to 50 spam items per day.
i have never experienced this before with other e-mails, the odd item at times. the initial spam items were in german but then from canada companies, et all.
THE BIG PROBLEM is that today i am unable to login to any of the other companies where my tutanota e mail is my username.
even one company who is delivering tommorrow.
DO NOT delete your account in the first place, let it lapse into a free account.
BUT how are my login usernames blocked or non existant.
i have usernames with much older e-mail a/cs that have lapsed,
but i can still login to those accounts
I USE kaspersky password manager

Excellent value for money...

Been using Tutanota for some years now and at some point switched to their premium service. I love it....
Tutanota gives you the option to write encrypted emails and they protect (encrypt) your mailboxes. Your emails are safe with them.
However, this company and it's mail-products are still fairly new. Their email service is still developping. It is getting better.
However, I miss the option of searching my emails. They're working on it, they say...
What I also like is the service level they provide. It is fairly easy to get in touch with them and you get intelligent answers from real thinking people. Kudo's for that.
Tutanota is partnering up with other companies that understand the need for online privacy of their customers. I see their (Tutanota and partners) array of privacy- and security products grow from encrypted email to cloud backup and even a service for sending large files. I use 'm all now. It is all good value for money...
I just wish they would provide a temporary email service also and I would love to see 'm work on 'privacy-by-design' authentication products.

Account suspended - Poor to nonexistent service

Based on my recent experience as a casual user, Tutanota’s support team has been both unprofessional and uncommitted. Other users have reported to me the same kind of careless “follow up” by their team, so I’m making sure people know how they may 'handle' extremely basic situations such as mine.

They suspended my account without any warning or communication. I contacted them since my password wouldn’t allow for me to log in anymore and their answer was:

“Hi there,

that account was used to send spam, so it was suspended.

Cheers,
Arne”

I have never spammed anyone. My connections were also entirely secured, so no one else has logged in on the account besides me from home. I cannot log in or do anything with the email anymore. I responded to them but they simply ignore me.

No additional information was given. No resolution was offered. “Account suspended. Cheers.”. If it’s happening to me and has happened to other people, it will happen again.
